What do you trust when the situation in front of you seems impossible?

Opening Romans 4:13–25 yesterday, Andy showed us that Abraham trusted God—not because his circumstances looked hopeful, but because he was convinced that God could do what he had promised.

And Paul says these words were written for us too: righteousness will be counted to those who trust in the God who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.

Our hope rests on God’s grace and God’s promise—fulfilled through Jesus’ death and resurrection.

Spring has a way of making us notice things again.

New growth. Longer evenings. Colour returning. The ordinary world suddenly looking a little extraordinary.

The Bible describes creation as something that points beyond itself—to the power and generosity of the God who made it.

So this weekend, notice something.

Look up. Look closely. Enjoy it.

And remember the One who made it.

What if God isn't who you thought he was?

Last Tuesday at Taste & See, we explored Jesus' story of the Prodigal Son—and what it reveals about us, our sin, and our relationship with God.

For many people, there's a surprising discovery at the heart of the story.

We can imagine God as distant. Someone watching to see whether we're behaving well enough, doing enough good things, or somehow proving ourselves to him.

But that's not the God Jesus shows us.

God is relational. He loves his children. He desires our hearts. And he welcomes us home.

The Prodigal Son helped us look honestly at the signs of sin in our own lives—not simply as breaking rules, but as something that affects our relationship with the God who made us and loves us.

And that changes the way we understand both sin and God.

Romans 4:3 says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”

That contrast is actually really helpful: Paul’s point is not that Abraham was naturally righteous, but that righteousness was credited to him because he believed God.
