Ukrainian Orthodox Centre, Australia The Ukrainian Orthodox Centre is a complex of buildings including a church, memorial centre and museum and 2 monuments.

The Church of St Nicholas of the Ukrainian Autocephalic Orthodox Church in Diaspora, was dedicated to the fallen soldiers in the two World Wars. It was consecrated on 6 April, 1975, by the Right Reverend Bishop Constantine. The church is white rendered with unusually shaped cupolas made from bronze. There are several striking Byzantine mosaics on the outside walls depicting the Holy Virgin and sai

nts. A memorial center, opened in 1988, is located next to the church and was erected by parishioners of Australia and New Zealand. The museum features beautiful mosaics, a small museum featuring Ukrainian arts and crafts, iconography and objects of religious significance in the Orthodox Christian tradition. A memorial stone nearby is dedicated to the victims of the Artificial Famine (Holodomor) in Ukraine during 1932-33. Nearby is a memorial sculpture dedicated to the great Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko. The inside of the church and museum can be viewed by appointment.

On Sunday, 7 June, we welcomed a delegation from the Ukrainian Catholic Church, consisting of His Eminence Mykola Cardinal Bychok, Eparch of Melbourne; His Eminence Archbishop Volodymyr Viytyshyn, Archbishop and Metropolitan of Ivano-Frankivsk; Fr. Vitalii Tokar and Fr. Volodymyr Hanzha from Ivano-Frankivsk; and Fr. Vasyl Motrichenko, Administrator of the Ukrainian Catholic Parish in Canberra.

During their visit, a memorial service was held to pray for the victims of the Holodomor and the current invasion of Ukraine.

A guided tour of the Ukrainian Orthodox Centre and Museum was provided by Fr. Michael Solomko.

We also remembered all the dear mothers who have entered into eternity.
