To our dear parishioners and visitors at St Joseph's Camperdown, tomorrow 15 Aug is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Holy Day of Obligation for the Catholic faithful.

Archbishop Fisher has advised that since the Solemnity of the Assumption fall on Saturday (15 August), all Masses celebrated on this day are to be the Mass of the solemnity, including evening (vigil) Masses normally celebrated in anticipation of the Sunday Mass.

As the Assumption is a Holy Day of Obligation, the Catholic faithful must fulfil the obligation of the Assumption and of the Sunday separately (i.e. go to two Masses, not one).

This coming August 21-22, men are invited to take part in this annual overnight pilgrimage in honour of St Joseph.

The Camino begins with 9.00pm Mass on Friday 21 August at St Patrick’s Church Hill and Confession available from 7.00pm.

The Camino will conclude with 6.00am Mass at St Mary’s Cathedral on Saturday 22 August followed by a celebration in fellowship with hot breakfast & drinks.

This year’s Camino is in the city region visiting some of Sydney’s most historic churches.

The entire walk from start to finish includes 7 churches:
1. St Patrick’s, Church Hill – Opening Mass
2. St Brendan’s, Annandale
3. St Joseph’s Camperdown
4. St Benedict’s, Broadway
5. St Peter’s, Surry Hills
6. St Canice’s Elizabeth Bay
7. St Mary’s Cathedral, Sydney – Closing Mass

Each stop features a reflection on St Joseph, time in Eucharistic Adoration, and the Rosary in faith-filled brotherhood.

We keep our newly baptised brothers and sisters in our prayers and all those who suffer in any way. May Christ’s light be shone all over the world this Easter.
