Today, the Uniting Church in Australia celebrates 49 years of faith, service and witness across the nation. As we give thanks for God's faithfulness and look ahead with hope to the future, we are reminded of the story captured in our Church logo—a story that reflects who we are and what we are called to be.

At its centre, the Cross proclaims the light and love of Christ; the Dove represents the Holy Spirit guiding and renewing God's people; the dark background reminds us of a world in need of God's grace; and the open "U" symbolises our ongoing call to be a uniting Church, living out faith, love, justice and service.

As we conclude our season of Uniting in Prayer, President Rev Charissa Suli warmly invites members and leaders to join a national online evening of prayer tonight. Together, we will celebrate God's faithfulness over the past 49 years and pray with joy and hope for the future God is leading us towards.

𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿
𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟲: 𝗪𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀

Loving God, Heavenly Kupa (Father),

We come before you with open hearts, carrying the pain of a scarred world, and wounded peoples, longing for peace and reconciliation, through the living hope found within your grace.

We give thanks for these lands, for Country entrusted to us. Country, which holds a multitude of stories, memories, and the generational wisdom of First Peoples; alongside a modern shared story of who we are, and who we are yet to become, renewed through your love.

Help us to raise courage and dignity through respectful listening, so that we may knit our hearts back to you, and to each other. Teach us to rest, renew through prayer, let go of what not longer serves, and turn towards injustice with clear minds, knowing we are not alone.

Where there is brokenness, bring healing. Comfort communities carrying grief and guide leaders to seek peace with integrity. When despair threatens to take root, remind us that we are bound together by threads of hope, woven through your love, and strengthened through the presence of your Holy Spirit, and by our practice of your many teachings.

LORD, we pray that hope rises like dawn over Country, steady and faithful. Restore our spirits and make us bearers of new reconciling movements. May justice flow like living waters, bringing freedom, restoration, and new beginnings for all peoples. We place ourselves humbly in your hands.

Amen.

𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿
𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟯: 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵

Loving God,

We pray for those in positions of authority and responsibility. Let humility, integrity and empathy be the compass that guide them towards peace, justice and protection. Grant our leaders the wisdom to see through the eyes of those they serve. Help them understand their joys and sorrows alike.

We pray for those with no power over their own lives. For those who have been silenced, or who are yet to find the courage to raise their voices. Guide them to find hope in the stars on the darkest nights and solidarity in their siblings across the globe. May they encounter kindness in the most unlikely times, and know that they are seen, heard, and loved.

We pray for our world in this time of deep uncertainty. Help us find stability within ourselves and each other. When division grows louder than understanding, conflict obscures the path towards peace, remind us of our shared humanity. Teach us to see beyond borders, beliefs and differences, recognising in one another the same dignity, worth and longing for hope.

We pray for each other as we walk alongside you as Creator, Christ and Holy Spirit in our respective journeys of faith. Strengthen us to lead with compassion, serve with humility and trust in your discernment when the road ahead seems unclear. Help us to be a source of light to our neighbours who are lost in darkness and a voice for those who cannot speak.

May our faith be reflected not through our words but through the way we care for one another and the world around us, regardless of who or where we are.

What a meaningful and encouraging time together at our recent Presbytery Meeting. It was a wonderful opportunity to share in conversation, prayer, discernment, and fellowship as we reflected on the life and ministry of our Presbytery community.

Here are some of the key highlights from the meeting:

✨ We celebrated the completion of the Period of Discernment for:
• Limoni Tupou
• Mark Watson
• Samu Waqabaka
• Sara Weinand
• Sital Sanjivi

🙏 The following people were approved to progress to the Synod Selection Panel as they continue their journey towards ministry:
• Sital Sanjivi — specified ministry of Minister of the Word
• Samuela Waqabaca — specified ministry of Minister of the Word
• Rimmon (Limoni) Mataria Tupou — specified ministry of Minister of Deacon

⛪ We also approved a further 5-year extension for Rev Mosese Taufa’s placement at Auburn Uniting Church.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and contributed so thoughtfully throughout the meeting. Your presence, wisdom, prayers, and encouragement continue to strengthen and shape the ministry and mission of our Presbytery.

We warmly encourage everyone to join us again at the next Presbytery Meeting as we continue walking together in faith, service, and discernment.

𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿
𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟯: 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝘁
𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀: Genesis 9:16 (The everlasting covenant) or Ephesians 2:14.

Jesus Christ, our Brother and Redeemer,

You are the cornerstone of our unity, the one who breaks down the walls of division. We bring before You today the Covenant between the UAICC and the Uniting Church in Australia—a sacred promise to walk together, to share power, and to seek truth.

We confess that fulfilling this covenant is hard work. It requires us to face painful histories and uncomfortable truths. Give us courage, Lord. Do not let us settle for a cheap reconciliation that bypasses justice. Where trust has been eroded, pour out Your healing balm.

We pray that the wider Church will honour this covenant not as a document on a shelf, but as a living, breathing relationship. Woven together in Your love across cultures and boundaries, may we become a true reflection of Your kingdom—where First Peoples are respected in our sovereign identity, and Second Peoples walk beside us in humility and truth. Renew our shared vow to be a destiny-bound people.
