Most of us finish the Easter story at the empty tomb.
But the empty tomb is not the end. Jesus did not rise to stay. He rose to reign.
Forty days after the resurrection, Jesus ascended to the right hand of the Father, far above every power and authority that exists. And that single fact changes everything about how we pray, how we face what scares us, and how we live from Monday through Saturday.
This Sunday we preached the final sermon in our Easter series, The Hour Has Come, on the Ascension of Jesus.
Here is what we looked at:
The Ascension means he is reigning right now, over everything that concerns you.
The Ascension means he is interceding before the Father for you, right now, at this moment.
The Ascension means he sent the Holy Spirit to live in you in power.
The Ascension means he is coming back.
He is not a memory. He is not a teacher who lived two thousand years ago and left behind some good ideas.
He is the crowned, reigning, interceding, Spirit-sending, returning King of kings.
There is not a single headline that has ever surprised him. There is not a single situation in your life that sits outside his authority. And right now, at this moment, he is at the throne speaking for you.
Is that the Jesus you are actually living with this week?
