Today we welcomed the miraculous, myrrh-streaming icon- Softener of Evil Hearts- to our parish for the Vigil service. So many came to venerate the icon and pray before her, as myrrh streamed down the front of the glass. There was such a beautiful sense of peace and joy throughout the church, and somehow the three-hour service passed as though it were only 20 minutes. Oh most holy Theotokos pray for us all! 🕊️🙏🕊️

Cabramatta Orthodox Russian school accepts enrolments from age 3. Classes run every Saturday during Australian school terms with exception of feast days.

Our Cabramatta Russian School Annual Concert went splendidly! 🎭✨

We were treated to wonderful performances from both our Little Children’s Choir and Big Children’s Choir, as well as an incredible and spectacular production of The Frog Princess! 🐸👑

What a talented group of children! We are so proud of every one of our performers.

A huge thank you to all our gifted children, their supportive families, and our dedicated team of teachers who work tirelessly to make events like this possible.

Special thanks to Anya Dubova for her vision, creativity and enormous effort in bringing the whole concert together; Dima Dubov for the audio and special effects; and Valentina Morozova, Elena Browne, Ilaria Ovchinnikova, Vanya Morozov and all of our wonderful teachers who helped behind the scenes and with the choreography and dances.

A big thank you also to all the parents who contributed to the delicious lunch- your help was very much appreciated! ❤️

And, of course, thank you to our wonderful audience of family and friends who came along to support the children and cheer them on. Your encouragement means so much!

Wishing all our parishioners and friends a blessed Feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God! 🕊️

It was an especially festive day in our parish as we also celebrated the 80th birthday of our long-serving and much-loved Starosta- Alex Roudenko.

We are so grateful for all his hard work, dedication and faithful service to our parish over the years. As Father Boris mentioned in his speech, there have been very few services he has attended where our Starosta has not also been present- opening the church, lighting the vigil lamps in the altar, preparing the church for baptisms, and always being there to help wherever needed.

His quiet and steadfast service is a blessing to our parish, and we thank him sincerely for all that he has done and continues to do.

May God bless him, grant him good health, strength and joy, and bless him with many, many years!

Why do Orthodox Christians bless fruit on the Feast of the Transfiguration?

Today, on the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, it is traditional to bring the first fruits of the harvest to church to be blessed.

In the early Christian tradition, grapes were especially associated with this feast, but in Russia, where grapes were not widely grown, apples and other local fruits became traditional. This is why the feast is popularly known as Яблочный Спас- Apple Saviour.

The blessing of the fruit is an expression of thanksgiving to God for the gifts of His creation. We offer Him the first fruits of what He has given us and ask Him to bless the harvest, our work, and all that we receive from His hands.

There is also a beautiful deeper meaning: on the Transfiguration, Christ revealed His divine glory, giving us a glimpse of the transformation and glorification that all creation is called to share in.

When we bring our baskets of fruit to church, we are reminded that everything we have is a gift from God- and all creation belongs to Him.

Happy Feast Day of the Transfiguration of Our Lord! С праздником Преображения Господня! 🙏

Our Most Holy Mother of God is our strongest protector and comforter.
If we become accustomed to calling upon Her and glorifying Her, She will never leave us without help- both in this life and in the life to come.

The Mother of God has great boldness before Her Divine Son- He loves Her and listens to Her prayers.
All of us have different sorrows and needs, whether spiritual or physical.

And even if everything is going well for us personally right now- thanks be to God- among our relatives and friends there will always be someone who needs support, someone for whom we can pray.

In our church in Cabramatta we have a true treasure- a wonderworking icon of the Mother of God, before which thousands of people have prayed with tears over several centuries.

During the Dormition Fast, most evenings at 6 PM, we will serve the Paraklesis before the wonderworking icon- this is a Greek word; in our tradition it is a Moleben to the Mother of God, a special prayer asking for Her help. It lasts about 30–40 minutes.

Come yourselves and bring your children. Teach them to honor and pray to the Mother of God. Please check our service schedule for details.

Матерь Божия наша самая крепкая заступница и утешительница!
Если мы привыкнем Её призывать и прославлять, Она нас никогда не оставит без помощи и в этой жизни и в будущей!

Божия Матерь имеет огромное дерзновение перед своим Божественным Сыном - Он её любит и прислушивается к Её просьбам!

У всех есть различные скорби и нужды, будь это духовные или телесные!

Если даже у нас самих, Слава Богу все сейчас хорошо, то найдутся в кругу близких и знакомых, те кто нуждается в поддержке и за которых мы можем помолиться!

В нашем храме в Кабраматта мы имеем настоящее сокровище- чудотворную икону Божией Матери, перед которой со слезами молились тысячи людей за несколько столетий!

В течении Успенского поста в нашем храме перед чудотворной иконой будут по вечерам в 6рм служить Параклисис- это греческое слово, по нашему это молебен Божией Матери- особая молитва о помощи. Он длится около 30-40 минут.
Приходите сами и с детишками, учите их почитать и молиться Божией Матери.
