It’s the first Sunday of September! That means Godly Play is on in Burleigh Kids. Here we create an environment for the kids to slow down, quieten their minds and bodies, to sit and listen for how the Holy Spirit may be speaking to and teaching them as they engage with God’s Word. This is a unique method of delivering the stories of the Bible. In this month’s story we will have a little piece of the desert in our room to set the scene following the great journey Abraham & Sarah took through the desert in Genesis 12, 15, 17-18, 21 & 24. You are warmly invited and welcome to join us at church this Sunday and bring your kids along for Godly Play 💛

Winter Initiative: Saturday Breakfast Supplies Needed!
With our Winter Initiative kicking off this Friday, we are officially launching our Saturday morning breakfast program!
To make this a success, we need your help to keep our kitchen stocked.
Step 1: If you’d like to contribute, contact [email protected] (or talk to Ann) to let us know which Saturday(s) you are happy to cover.
Step 2: Once you're on the roster, we will contact you on your week to let you know exactly which specific supplies from the list are needed for the upcoming Saturday.
If you are able to help feed our community this winter, please reach out today so we can get the roster sorted.

At Burleigh Church of Christ, our Beached @ Burleigh mission has grown beyond the capacity of our current building. Every week, lives are being impacted through practical support, community, dignity, and hope for vulnerable people across our region.

After Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, we opened our doors to provide shelter for 45 people experiencing homelessness. As winter approaches, we are now preparing to trial regular overnight openings so no one has to face the cold alone.

We believe God is calling us to create a permanent Home for Mission — a space dedicated to love, compassion, safety, and hope for years to come.

Dear Church Family,
We have an incredible opportunity to put our faith into action right here on the Gold Coast. This year, Burleigh Church of Christ is partnering with the City Reach Foundation to help launch the Winter Initiative, a coordinated effort to provide safety and warmth to those experiencing homelessness in our city.

Starting in July, our church will open its doors every Friday to provide more than just a roof; we are providing dignity and care for our neighbours in need.
Our guests will be welcomed into our space to receive:
* A warm shower and a comfortable, safe bed for the night.
* A hot, nutritious dinner on Friday evening and a healthy breakfast on Saturday morning.

Equipping the Team: Training Starts Soon!
To serve our guests effectively and safely, all volunteers will participate in a comprehensive 6-week training program. Whether you want to help in the kitchen, set up beds, or serve as an overnight host, this training is essential for everyone.
When: Every Saturday for 6 weeks, starting 23 May 2026.
Time: 11am - 12 midday

🥣 Food Drive! 🥣
During the month of May, we’re collecting tinned soup to support our Friday food outreach program. If you are in a position to add some tinned soup to your grocery shopping this month and then drop them into the food cages at the entrance to the Op Shop, it would be most appreciated.
*If you are in need of food help, please come into the Op Shop (behind the Church) on Fridays between 8.30am - 10.30am to get a free food hamper. Orange Sky is also available at this time to provide free washing and drying for any laundry*
