As we honour Mary’s birth, we give thanks for her faithful witness, her loving care for the Church and her constant intercession for all God’s people.

Today we celebrate fatherhood in Australia. We honour not just dads but grandfathers, big brothers, uncles and anyone else who fulfills a fatherly role for others.
Let us pray:
God our Father, we give thanks and praise for all fathers. May they find courage and perseverance to balance work, family and faith in joy and sacrifice. We pray for fathers around the world whose children are lost and suffering. May they know God’s compassion and love. We remember those fathers who are no longer with us but who continue to live in our hearts.

Saint Teresa of Calcutta
Her Feast Day is today, September 5.
She was canonised by Pope Francis on September 4, 2016.
Her response to Jesus’ plea, “Come be my light, ‘made her a mother to the poor, a symbol of compassion to the world and a living witness to the thirsting love of God.’
The order she established, the Missionaries of Charity, continue to minister in our parish - providing catechism to the children at our local primary school.

Today we celebrate the feast of St Mary of the Cross, Mary MacKillop.
We celebrate her feast day because of what she stood for…..every August 8, we remember her courage and carry her mission forward. She reminds us to:
“Love one another, bear with one another, and let charity guide you in all your life.”(1909)
AND
“We all have very much for which to thank and love God.” (1873)
Let us pray,
Mary MacKillop walk beside me.
Encourage me to take heart.
Show me how to place my cares into the hands of God, to trust in the providence of God to provide for my needs and the needs of our world. AMEN

Our Holy Spirit Parish family warmly invites all parishioners, friends, and those whose lives were touched by Fr Troy to join us as we gather to celebrate his life, give thanks for his faithful ministry, and commend him to God's loving care.

The Requiem Mass for Fr Troy will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Parish, Gungahlin, on Monday, 13 July, commencing at 11.00am.

Following the Mass, everyone is warmly invited to remain with us for a wake at Holy Spirit Parish, where we can share memories and celebrate the remarkable life of our dear priest, friend, and shepherd.

Please note that parking at the parish is limited. Overflow parking will be available at Good Shepherd Primary School adjacent to the parish, with signage in place to assist you.

A private cremation will take place following the Mass.

Please continue to keep Fr Troy, his family, and our parish community in your prayers.

May Fr Troy rest in the peace and joy of Christ, whom he served so faithfully. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.

A memorial Mass at 6pm tonight to be celebrated by Fr. Richard Thompson At Holy Spirit Parish.

Dear parishioners of Holy Spirit Parish, and parents, students and staff of our Catholic schools across the Gungahlin region.

It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Parish Priest, Father Troy Bobbin, who died at Canberra Hospital last night.

This news will come as a great shock to many. The sudden progression of Father Troy's illness has been difficult to comprehend, and in the days and weeks ahead our parish family will mourn the loss of a priest and good friend who gave so generously of himself in service to God and to our community.

Details of Father Troy's funeral will be shared in the coming days. A condolence book will also be available at all Masses this weekend for those who wish to leave a message for Father Troy's family.

As we grieve together, may we also give thanks for Father Troy's faithful priesthood, his gentle presence, and the many lives he touched through his ministry, here and also at St Gregory’s Parish Queanbeyan and those before that.

May the Lord whom he served so faithfully now welcome him into the fullness of eternal life.

1962-2026

It is with great personal sadness that I announce the sudden death of Fr Troy Bobbin, Parish Priest of Holy Spirit Parish, Amaroo ACT. Fr Troy died at Canberra Hospital on last night after complications with recently diagnosed cancer treatment. His family and the Archdiocese were supporting him at that time.

Born: Boorowa 28 October 1962
Parents: Maurice (dec) and June nee Corcoran; (siblings: Kym Patterson, Daren (Daz) Connolly, Perry and Lee Bobbin).
Education: St Patrick's Boorowa, Latham Primary ACT and St Francis Xavier College, Florey ACT
Seminary: St Paul's Seminary, Kensington NSW.
Ordained a Deacon: 27 October 1995
Ordained a Priest: 17 May 1996, St Peter Chanel's, Yarralumla ACT by Archbishop Francis Carroll.
Parishes and Appointments: Young, Calwell ACT, Ardlethan and Barellan, West Wyalong and then West Wyalong Mission, Queanbeyan, Gunghalin ACT.

Fr Troy’s funeral details will be released in due course.

On behalf of the Archdiocese, I particularly thank Narelle Holt for her timely and professional support of Fr Troy, where she reached beyond her retired priests' mandate. Of course, Narelle was supported in her generosity by members of the Clergy Retirement Foundation Board of which Fr Troy was a member.

May he now rest in peace and rise in Easter glory.
