Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, Sunday May 31.
Today we reflect on who God truly is and how our one God exists in three persons; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The mystery of the Holy Trinity reminds us that God is always greater than our thoughts and words yet lovingly reveals Himself to us through His love and mercy.

Let us pray:
Most Holy Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
You are the One God in Three Persons.
We give to You our lives, all that we are, and all that we will be.
Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us.
Amen

National Sorry Day May 26 marks the 1997 ‘Bringing them home’ report which acknowledged the forced removal of the Stolen Generations, the forcible removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families.
But in 2026, sorry without action is not enough - this year’s national theme, ‘From Sorry to Action’, reflects expectations that urgent steps are taken to create tangible and measurable change for First Nations communities.
In her Dadirri reflection, Dr Miriam Rose Ungunmerr-Baumann says;
“The time for re-birth is now, said the Holy Father to us. Jesus comes to fulfil, not to destroy. If our culture is alive and strong and respected, it will grow. It will not die.”

Mary Help of Christians, Patron of Australia
Feast Day May 25.
Entrusting Australia to Mary, help of Christians.
Let us pray:
Almighty God, deepen in our hearts our love of Mary, help of Christians.
Through her prayers and under her protection may the light of Christ shine over our land.
May Australia be granted harmony, justice and peace.
Grant wisdom to our leaders and integrity to our citizens.
Bless especially the men and women of the Australian Defence Force and their families.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
Mary, help of Christians, pray for us.

Laudato Si’, ‘Praise be to you, my Lord’
This event takes place from May 17-24 each year to mark the anniversary of Pope Francis’s landmark encyclical on caring for our common home, Earth.
The global theme for 2026 is:
“From Hope to Action”, encouraging communities worldwide to transition from reflection to concrete everyday sustainability.
“We must never forget that we are part of the Earth and nature itself. Nature isn’t some plaything….. We must see this world from within.” (Pope Francis, 2023)

The Ascension of the Lord Sunday May 17
‘Go, make disciples of all nations.’
Forty days after the Resurrection, Jesus ascends to Heaven, triumphant, to sit at the Father’s right hand.
Today’s first reading gives an account of the Ascension, where Jesus promises to send his Holy Spirit to be with his disciples.
The psalm (47), emphasises the triumph of Jesus while the second reading stresses Christ’s power. Matthew’s Gospel focuses on sending forth the disciples to witness, baptise and teach with Jesus promising to be with them (and us!) ‘to the end of time.’
This week, we pray that all those who are struggling may find peace, and know God’s presence in their heart.

Today is the Feast Day of Our Lady of Fatima
The Virgin Mary first appeared to the three children from Fatima, Portugal, on May 13 in 1917. On her sixth and final appearance she revealed herself as Our Lady of the Rosary, reminding us all to pray the Rosary daily.
The Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney invites all to their annual Our Lady of Fatima Procession, May 16, after 6pm Mass at St Mary’s Cathedral;
‘Witness the universality of the Catholic Church..feel the power of prayer, the strength and warmth of community [and] walk alongside brothers and sisters in Christ to honour Our Lady….’

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY
Today we give thanks for our mothers!
Let us pray;
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the gift and joy of motherhood, for Your grace to love and care for our families amidst our daily struggles and competing priorities.
Please bless all mothers and those who have taken upon themselves the responsibility of motherhood.
Grant us strength, patience, wisdom and may Your Holy Spirit constantly inspire and guide us as we nurture our families. Comfort those who mourn the loss of their mothers and heal those who have been hurt by broken relationships.
May Your peace and love surround them. Help families to honour and support their mothers, showing them kindness, gratitude and respect.
Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, please pray for us and our families. We make this prayer through Jesus Christ who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. AMEN.
