Silver Wattle Quaker Centre is run by a Quaker community concerned about peace and nonviolence, care of the environment, inter-faith and inter-cultural understanding and holistic healing. We follow the daily practices of worship, listening, spiritual nurture of all present, and taking action on matters that trouble the conscience. The centre may be hired for meetings, conferences, family camps, in

Active Hope: The Work that Reconnects, led by Jane Hope, 27-30 March

This course takes a Quakerly approach to Joanna Macy’s teaching on ‘The Work that Reconnects’, a spiral of practices designed to support us in meeting the multiple crises of our times. The Work unfolds through four stages: Coming from Gratitude, Honouring our Pain for the world, Seeing with New/Ancient Eyes, and Going Forth. The journey helps us experience first hand that we are larger, stronger, more creative - and more deeply interconnected - than we knew.

The cauliflowers are looking and tasting amazing, and the beds in the tunnel are looking so good!

Thriving through crisis: skills for self and country is running this September. Led by Helen Gould and Rowe Morrow, this course draws on Buddhist, Quaker and permaculture practices to help us respond to the crises we are currently facing.

We've had some great frosts these last few weeks and are using this slower colder time for all kinds of garden projects. Our brassicas and leafy greens are doing well and the garlic is loving its wooly much and starting to shoot.
Photo shows one of our veggie tunnels with three long beds containing boc choi, coriander, wool covered garlic shoots, kohlrabi, lettuce, rocket and cauliflower.
