“We have found the Messiah”
The words of Andrew to his brother Simon Peter. (John1:41) And what wonderful words they must have been to Simon Peter to hear. Andrew was initially a disciple of John the Baptist. The first thing Andrew did after he met Jesus Christ was to go and tell his brother. He then went on and brought his brother to Jesus. In our personal experience of receiving the Holy Spirit, in type, we have ‘found the Messiah’. The next thing for us to do is, through our testimony in word and deed, bring as many other people as possible to Jesus so they can also personally ‘find the Messiah’.

Living the moment
On one hand Jesus directs us to not get ahead of ourselves in living life. (Matt6:34) On the other we are encouraged to lift up our heads for our redemption draws near. (Luke21:28) Even Paul the Apostle wrote how he presses towards the mark for the prize of the high calling in Christ Jesus. (Phil3:13-15) So which is it? Do we just live moment to moment, or do we keep our focus on the beyond today in anticipation of the return of Jesus Christ? The answer of course is that God’s people are directed to live each moment of life as though Jesus is about to return.

Wisdom
The pinnacle of man’s wisdom is found in King Solomon of the biblical Israel nation. When God said to him, ‘ask what I shall give you’, King Solomon asked for an understanding heart to be able to judge God’s people and so he could discern between the right and wrong.
King Solomon became so famous for his wisdom that the Queen of Sheba travelled to see him. People will naturally gravitate to the wisdom of man. And even more so in our era of the internet where the ‘wisdom’ of man is on tap for all to find. However, is this the ‘wisdom’ that God’s people should be gravitating towards? Jesus Christ made reference to the magnitude of the wisdom of Solomon and then stated that ‘a greater than Solomon is here’. Of course, he was referring to himself and the wisdom of God that comes by the Holy Spirit. Instead of seeking out the wisdom of man, God’s people, and anyone else for that matter, should be seeking out, and applying the wisdom of God.

By the rivers of Babylon – Psalm 137
God’s people found themselves in a very precarious situation. Faced with captivity they mourned when they remembered what they had and what they had forsaken through disobedience to God’s Word.
Even though their situation was bad they did not take heed to the positive prophecy through Jeremiah that their captivity was only going to last 70 years. At the end of that period, they would have the opportunity to return to their homeland. At any time in our lives we may face circumstances that cause us to feel alone, isolated or under attack. If that happens, God’s people are to remember the great and precious promises He has made to them through Christ Jesus. God has promised an eternal release from our captivity, which is from our mortality, into an everlasting existence in His glorious presence.

'I am with you alway(s), even unto the end of the world.'
These are the comforting and reassuring words of Jesus Christ as He gave the disciples (and all true followers) the authority to preach the gospel message of His death and resurrection.
Jesus had warned His followers that they could expect opposition and even hard times when they spoke of Him. But Jesus affirmed that whilst there may be this tribulation, His followers were to be bold and courageous and have confidence because through His death and resurrection, God had provided the way to overcome all the conflicting issues of the world, with the greatest victory being over our mortality. (Matthew 28:20)
