This Sunday at Bible and Beer in the Lamb and Flag cafe: Understanding Pentecost, with Fr Isuru

Pentecost is a key event in the Christian calendar, marking the Holy Spirit's descent on Jesus Christ's apostles and followers, as detailed in the Book of Acts. This talk will explore the historical and theological dimensions of Pentecost, examining its significant influence on Christianity and its continuing relevance.

We will explore:

Historical Context: the origins of Pentecost, which stem from the Jewish festival of Shavuot.

Theological Significance: how Pentecost represents the Church's birth and the fulfillment of Jesus' promise to send the Holy Spirit, symbolizing believers' empowerment to spread the gospel.

Cultural Impact: Pentecost's influence on Christian worship globally - its role promoting unity and diversity within the Christian community.

Modern Relevance: how Pentecost's message continues to inspire believers today, urging them to embrace renewal and transformation.

Join Fr Isuru to celebrate the Church's birthday - 6pm, Sunday, May 24, in the Lamb and Flag, 264 Sydney Rd, Brunswick.
