So what is Easter all about?

The time we call "Easter" is all about Gods remarkable gift; Jesus Christ, God made known to man, Immanuel.
He came to Earth and not just showed us Truth, He is Truth; Life is in Him, He is the one Way to Gods perfection.
He bought each one of us for himself when he died for our sin; all the things we do that are wrong, died in our place; so we would not need to be separated from God by our lack of His perfection. He did what we can't do.
Then three days later Jesus demonstrated that he is the Author of life and Master of life when he rose again.

Accept His remarkable gift of life while there is time. That is all he asks of us; just to accept his gift. He did it all for us.
"Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest" is what he said in Matthew 11: 28 in the bible

What’s Christmas actually about?

Its about the best things in life. Heres a quick look:

We all like good things. We all recognise good things. What are the best things in life?

There is Love and Joy, and what about Forgiveness, Kindness, Faithfulness there’s Peace, Hope, Patience; Gentleness, Self control. These are good and meant to be inside ourselves and shared with others.

We all know they are good, thats built into us; but where did these good things come from?

Theres lots of ideas about that, most avoid the issue, but deep down we know there must be a Creator.

The story is; He designed us to worship Him because He is where all these good things are.

Very strangely; we all worship something. We won’t go there now, but its true. We were designed that way.

We needed a way to know God, so we can focus our life on Him. Life then has meaning and peace and hope and joy and all those other good things

What if; In Jesus He made it possible. Could that story actually be true? ,

Think about what it would mean for each of us if it is. It just may be the most important question we will ever ask ourselves.
Many people, great and small, down thru the centuries have studied the Bible, observed. prayed and concluded that it is true.

Christmas for many, has come to mean very little, which unfortunately is no accident and that’s another story, but the reason we celebrate Christmas is not about a myth or legend or just a quaint story about a famous baby.

It’s the account of how God chose to make Himself known and reveal the plan he made for us, the bible says “before the foundation of the world” Revelation 13: 8

In the Bible, in Isaiah, we can read about Jesus coming to earth and his his reign over all things, which for us at our time in history is yet future but totally certain. It was written about 700 years prior to Jesus birth.
Chapter 9, verses 6-7 says;
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given and the government shall be upon his shoulder and his name shall be called Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forward and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this”

In several places in the bible it says of Jesus; “By Him and for him were all things created”

Christmas reminds us; The Creator of everything gave up his position and came to Earth to be one of us and show us how we had drifted away and to actually be the way back to Him. He said; I am the Way, theTruth and the Life
It’s thanking God for His Gift of Jesus Christ; The ultimate act of Love. He can give us the best in life, life ongoing after death, as a Gift for any to accept.

Also in the Bible, we can read John 3:16,17
16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

17: “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved”

That is what Christmas is all about.
Our amazing God has made provision for us to be His Children forever!
Happy Christmas everyone, from the Bruce Rock Church of Christ

WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?

The most important of all life's questions. One with everlasting consequences. We all think on it and know we need saving, even if we don't openly say so.

Just like in the picture, there is only one Way home.

When we see much of the world being deceived, it's so important to know the Truth and follow it.
Each one of us is a very valuable creation of God. So He has made a way for us to know him and live with him forever.

So as to not confuse us he made just one way, the Person, Jesus Christ. Called Immanuel. God with us.
He said it and not just said, but delivered on it by his perfect life, death and resurrection. "I am the Way the Truth and the Life" John 14: 6.

If you haven't already, find a church that upholds His Name and is based only in God's Word, the Bible.
When we give control of our life back to our Creator and Redeemer we can truly say, "I have the Peace of God and tho I
fall at times, I will never look back"

What a remarkable God we have!! Jesus: God revealed to us and our Redeemer. He is in every book of the Bible.
All we need to do is trust and obey, for there's no other way. (As the old song says)

We would have no idea who our Creator is unless He came and showed Himself to us. What a remarkable truth.
We could never make that up in our wildest dreams. All glory and honour to Him.

Hi Everyone. This Sunday we are blessed to have Neil Brandon come from York to speak to us. We will surely learn more of what God has for as we listen to Neil's message. Come and join us if you are nearby.

There is a very accurate statement in 2 Timothy, 2:15 which speaks of "rightly dividing the Word of Truth" it means to always read the bible looking at the context, whom it was primarily written to and how it relates to other areas of Scripture. Every passage is there by direct design, there are no errors, written under the guidance of the Holy Spirit for our learning.
Much of what we read about the people spoken of are models or types used to teach us a profound lesson. Scripture learning can never be exhausted it is ever new, "new every morning" Our very essential instruction manual. It literally contains life, a "living word" and is the one place where we can go to know God and His plan for us. It's very rewarding to look at all the places Jesus said of himself; "I am" if we take that on board our life will never be lost. We have "passed over from death to life". Blessings all.

Our promise of ongoing life that is for living to the max. is not through some "religion" that always fails: Our hope rests in a Person, our Lord Jesus who is able to do it ,all by Himself. Just accept that assurance every day and all will be well.

The Father Promising His Messiah as a Covenant
"I, the LORD, have called You in righteousness, and will hold Your hand; I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people." (Isaiah 42:6)

Once again, multiple promises reveal God's plan and guarantee His purposes. These promises are actually being made from God, the Father, to His Messiah, the anointed King (who is God, the Son). The promises show that the Messiah would be the new covenant of grace for His people.

In the opening words, the Father is describing the call of His Messiah. "I, the LORD, have called You in righteousness." Also, the Father is promising full participation in His Messiah's mission. "I, the LORD…will hold Your hand; I will keep You." This would be essential, because the Messiah would go forth as a humble, dependent Servant ("My Servant"-Isaiah 49:6): "taking the form of a servant…He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross" (Philippians 2:7-8).

Then, the Father offers this great promise of Christ's primary role in going forth to earth. "I will…give You as a covenant to the people." Jesus Christ Himself would be given to God's people as His new covenant with them. The new covenant of grace was supplanting the old covenant of law. Yet, it was not just a matter of prescribing new terms. Rather, a Person was being given who would be the sum and substance of the covenant. "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us… full of grace and truth" (John 1:14).

God has a new covenant of grace for His people, and it is all related to a Person, the Lord Jesus Christ. He Himself is the embodiment of all that the new covenant promises. In the new covenant, the Lord promises righteousness. This righteousness is found in a Person. "'Behold, the days are coming,' says the LORD, 'That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; a King shall reign and prosper, and execute judgment and righteousness in the earth. In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely; now this is His name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS'" (Jeremiah 23:5-6). Peace is promised in this covenant of grace. This peace is also found in a Person. "But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been made near by the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace" (Ephesians 2:13-14). Yes, all that the Lord promises by grace is entered into initially, and continually, by a humble, dependent relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Dear Father, I praise You for Your grace. I rejoice that the provisions of grace are not about performance or procedure, but are about developing a relationship with Your Son, Jesus Christ!

The New Covenant Promise of a New Heart

"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh." (Ezekiel 36:26)

To live in obedience to the will of God, man needs more than his own best efforts and intentions. The history of Israel emphatically demonstrates this. God gave His law. He commanded them, saying, "Walk in My statutes, keep My judgments, and do them" (Ezekiel 20:19). Israel had promised to obey. "All that the LORD has said we will do, and be obedient" (Exodus 24:7). Nevertheless, they failed miserably. "Notwithstanding, the children rebelled against Me; they did not walk in My statutes, and were not careful to observe My judgments" (Ezekiel 20:21).

In order to live obedient lives, people need a new life from God, followed by an understanding in how to develop that new life. Here, we see a promise from God to supply that new life. "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you." These promises are related to the new covenant of grace that the prophets proclaimed for Israel some day. "Behold, the days are coming…when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel…not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt" (Jeremiah 31:31-32). The book of Hebrews elaborates on this new covenant of grace and applies it to the church today: "Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us" (Hebrews 10:19-20).

When anyone embraces the grace of God offered in Jesus Christ (the mediator, the great High Priest of the new covenant), that person is born again by the Spirit of God. "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit" (John 3:6). This is a necessity. "Unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" (John 3:3). Human "flesh-birth" brings with it a hard spiritual heart (a dead spirit). Spiritual new birth from God replaces this hard heart (this dead, non-responsive spirit). "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you." Think of our desperate need for this work of God that brings us a new heart, a new life. Those not born again are described as living "in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God… because of the hardening of their heart" (Ephesians 4:17-18). Yet, whoever relies upon the grace of God offered in Jesus Christ becomes a new-born child of God. "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Dear Lord, giver of new life, I praise You for replacing my old, hard, dead heart with a new, responsive, living heart. Now I long to grow in the newness of Christ, Amen.
