It had its beginnings in Kerala (India), but is now active in nearly 35 different countries around the world. Jesus Youth is an initiative of young people themselves, who, filled with the Holy Spirit try to reach out to other young people. The strength of the movement is its special focus on a life centered on the Lord Jesus Christ: beginning with an experience of God nourished by prayer, the Word
of God, the sacraments and fellowship, and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with others. Though not an actual community, Jesus Youth is a network of small but vibrant groups of young people. In their own life situations, they strive to give time to the Lord, responding to the challenges of today’s world in the power of the Holy Spirit. Here in Brisbane, Jesus Youth has been slowly and steadily reaching out to many youth and families over the years since it formed in 2006. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, here we have in the recent years witnessed a vibrant fellowship of families and youth who have dedicated their time and resources for the movement. In the Brisbane Archdiocese we work with other youth groups to bring the vibrancy of the catholic church to the youth of the church. We have also been able to actively participate in the church activities and receive a strong support for Jesus Youth in both the St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Church and St. Alphonsa Catholic Church. Over the years we dream and pray to expand our movement to the other regions of Queensland. We sincerely thank JY National team and all the Priests, Religious, elders and well-wishers of JY QLD and all those who have been supported us throughout these years.
