Healthy Hands
We also revisited our healthy handwashing practices, particularly why we need to wash our hands after touching things outdoors and before eating.

We practised remembering:

Water → Soap → Scrub & Rub → Rinse → Dry

We also talked about keeping our hands away from our mouths and why clean hands help keep our bodies healthy.

A group of children became worm detectives, digging in the soil to find worms and bugs to feed to our chickens. The children:

Dug and moved the soil
Looked carefully for worms and bugs
Observed what they found
Shared their prior knowledge
Talked about where worms live
Wondered what worms eat
Carefully watched the chickens gobble them up
There were many spontaneous conversations and opportunities for children to develop their understanding of nature, living things and our responsibility for caring for animals.

Palaeontologists
Inside we continued our learning about fossils and dinosaurs. The children pretended to be palaeontologists by using brushes to reveal dinosaur bones. They were excited to see what was under the sand. Then they covered the items back up for their friends.

At the playdough table the children made fossils by hiding small dinosaurs in playdough. They excitedly show the teachers and then broken open playdough to reveal dinosaurs.

Dinosaur fun

The children had enjoyed learning more about dinosaurs thru books- stomp and Dance of dinosaur. At music time we did the dinosaur dance. There was lots of laughing and smiles as the children joined in with the moves.
