Ever wondered what happens at a Buddhist meditation class?

It’s much simpler — and more relaxed — than you might imagine.

You’ll be guided through meditation, hear practical Buddhist teachings about how our mind works, and learn ways of responding to everyday problems with more peace, wisdom and confidence.

There’s no need to already know how to meditate, and you don’t need to consider yourself Buddhist to benefit.

From Tuesday 15 September, we’re bringing our weekly meditation classes to Nundah, at Northside Connect on Station Rd.

It’s an easy place to come to in the evening too, with a dedicated, well-lit car park immediately beside the venue and plenty happening along Station Rd.

If you’ve been curious about meditation or Buddhist teachings, this could be a lovely place to begin.

📍 Northside Connect, 14 Station Rd, Nundah

One week to go 💙🧡

Next Sunday we come together for our Buddha Shakyamuni Empowerment with Gen Kelsang Ani.

It will be a day to step away from the busyness of ordinary life, receive Buddha Shakyamuni’s blessings and reconnect with the peaceful, loving and wise person we have the potential to become.

The empowerment will be followed by commentary to The Liberating Prayer — giving us a wonderful opportunity to understand much more deeply the prayer we hear at the beginning of every class, workshop, retreat and puja.

🗓 Sunday 13 September

If you’ve been thinking of coming, now is a good time to book your place.

“May everyone be happy…”

For those who attend our classes regularly, The Liberating Prayer can become almost like an old friend.

We hear it before teachings. We recite it at retreats and pujas. Its verses create a bridge between our everyday life and the example and blessings of Buddha Shakyamuni.

But familiarity can sometimes mean we pass over words whose meaning is actually very profound.

On Sunday 13 September, Gen Kelsang Ani will give special commentary to The Liberating Prayer as part of our Buddha Shakyamuni Empowerment day.

It’s a rare opportunity to slow down, explore the meaning of this prayer and then return to our regular classes hearing its words with fresh understanding.

If this prayer is already part of your life, we would especially love you to join us.

There is much more potential within our mind than we normally realise.

Buddha’s teachings explain that qualities such as love, compassion, wisdom and deep inner peace can be developed without limit.

During the Buddha Shakyamuni empowerment on Sunday 13 September, Gen Kelsang Ani will guide us in a meditation that helps us connect with this pure potential within our own mind.

Rather than seeing enlightenment as something remote or abstract, empowerment gives us an experience of beginning to awaken these qualities within ourselves.

The day will also include commentary to The Liberating Prayer, the prayer to Buddha Shakyamuni that is such a familiar and precious part of our classes and spiritual practice.

Join us for this very special day.

What if caring more about others could actually make you happier?

We naturally spend a lot of time thinking about our own problems, worries and needs. But sometimes this can leave us feeling more stressed, isolated or dissatisfied.

Meditations on cherishing others gently turn our attention outwards.

By learning to appreciate others, develop genuine love and cultivate compassion, we discover a surprising truth: loving and caring for others is one of the most reliable ways to make our own mind happy.

This Saturday, Buddhist teacher Jo Whatley will guide these meditations in a relaxed retreat especially suitable for beginners.

No experience necessary — simply come along and be guided.
