Join the Pope's worldwide prayer for peace: pray the rosary at 11am tomorrow, Sun 31 May in the Church of Our Lady of Victories, Bowen Hills - the White Temple of Peace. All welcome! If you've never prayed the rosary, an awesome, scriptural and powerful prayer; we'll teach you how! 🕊⛪🙏🏽Join live via www.vatican.va around 3am Sunday morning Brisbane time or join us later, in person, at our Church.
Also: Holy Mass in English 8am or Polish 9:30am.

To accompany his constant calls for peace in the world, Pope Leo XIV will lead the prayer of the Holy Rosary on May 30 at 7:00 PM Rome time from the Vatican Gardens.

He will lead the faithful in Shrines around the world in praying the Joyful Mysteries, with each decade being dedicated specifically for those affected by war and violence and entrusting them to the intercession of Mary, Queen of Peace.

The first mystery prays for the victims of war, especially the most vulnerable, while the second is for those who bring words of hope and the comfort of faith to populations affected by war. The third recalls the medical and paramedical personnel and volunteers who bring humanitarian aid every day.

The fourth mystery prays for those who suffer the violence of war, for prisoners and for all who endure humiliations that violate human dignity. The fifth and final Joyful Mystery is dedicated to praying for an end to war and the establishment of lasting peace in the world.

Among her many names- Mary, Mother of God, Mother of the Church, Queen of Peace and many more- her special name here in Sydney and throughout Australia is “Mary Help of Christians”.

She acquired this name because Our Lady helped the baby Australian Church survive in colonial times when it had no priests, no Mass, no sacraments, and struggled with unfriendly authorities.

Fast-forward two centuries and Catholics are now the biggest religion in Australia and our presence is strong across schools, hospitals, welfare services, aged care homes and so many other wonderful spiritual and corporal works of mercy.

May we continue then to call upon our patron, Mary Help of Christians, in our daily lives and our works as she helps bring us close to her divine Son. Mary, Help of Christians, pray for us!

7 Reasons Every Catholic Should Spend Time in Eucharistic Adoration

1. To Be in the Real Presence of Jesus
Catholics believe the Eucharist is truly Jesus Christ present - Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. In Adoration, we kneel before Him, speak to Him, thank Him, or simply sit quietly in His presence.
As Pope John Paul II said, “The Church and the world have a great need of Eucharistic worship.”

2. To Grow in Personal Prayer
Adoration helps our prayer become more personal. In the silence, we can talk honestly with Jesus, ask for guidance, and listen to His voice in our hearts.

3. To Find Peace in a Busy World
Life today is busy and noisy. Adoration gives us a quiet place to rest with the Lord and find peace. Saints like Padre Pio, Pope John Paul II, and Mother Teresa spent daily time before the Eucharist.

4. For Strength Against Sin
Time with Jesus strengthens our faith and gives us grace to resist temptation. Being close to Christ slowly changes our hearts.

5. To Pray for Others
Adoration is a powerful time to pray for family, friends, the Church, and the whole world. We bring the needs of others before Jesus.

6. To Make Reparation for Sin
Catholic tradition teaches that prayer before the Eucharist can be offered in reparation for sin. Margaret Mary Alacoque encouraged this devotion to console the Heart of Jesus.

7. Because Jesus Is Waiting
You do not need perfect focus to come to Adoration. Simply come and spend time with Him. Even when prayer feels dry, your presence is an act of faith and love.
