Father’s Day is this Sunday! 💙

The Bible is full of fathers. Some faithful, some flawed, and some who definitely made a few questionable parenting decisions. 😅

But as we celebrate fathers this Sunday, we’re also reminded of the Father who never fails:

“A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows…” — Psalm 68:5

Whatever our experience of earthly fathers may be, we have a heavenly Father who is perfectly good, faithful and loving.

There is a King who sees. 💙

Jesus knows what it is to be silenced, wronged and treated unjustly. And He promises that no wrong will go unseen forever.

In Jesus, we find grace for the guilty and justice for the wronged, all from the same King.

Have you ever wondered what Eastern Orthodox Christians actually believe? 👀

There are similarities to what we believe as Reformed Christians, but there are also important differences. Understanding those differences can help us speak about Jesus and the gospel more clearly with our Orthodox friends, family and neighbours.

On 8 September, John Diacos will help us explore Eastern Orthodox teaching about God, humanity and sin, and consider what this means for clear gospel communication.

John was raised in a Greek Orthodox family and later served for 14 years as a Presbyterian minister in Victoria.

Whether you know someone who is Orthodox or you’ve simply wondered, “What’s the difference?”, we’d love you to come.

Before you even find the words, He knows. 💙

And yet, He invites us to pray. To come to Him. To trust Him. To bring before Him the things that weigh on our hearts.

What a comfort to know that when we pray, we are speaking to a Father who already knows us, cares for us, and hears us.

Christ’s love compels us. ❤️

It compels us to stop living for ourselves, to see the world differently and to love others as Jesus does.

And it sends us out as Christ’s ambassadors, sharing the good news that through Jesus, we can be reconciled to God.

What if the first step towards Jesus wasn't looking good, but admitting that we aren't?

We spend so much of life trying to prove ourselves, hiding our failures and pretending we've got it all together. But Jesus never came for people who thought they didn't need him.

He came for the broken. The weary. The guilty. The ones who knew they couldn't save themselves.

The good news is that you don't have to clean yourself up before coming to Jesus. Come as you are. Bring your failures, your doubts, and your need. He is the one who makes us new.

“It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners" Mark 2:17
