Gold Coast Christian College celebrated their first NAIDOC week in the histor of the college, today GCCC had their opening service for their 2023 NAIDOC week, the Indigenous Students did a great welcome and acknowledgment to country, that brought about the opening of a week of indigenous art, games, and stories that the GCCC community will embark on through the week, great to be apart of the ATSIM work in South Queensland,

The 25th of February was a wonderful day for the SQ ATSIM Community, Uncle Terry Denaro was baptized after many years of prayer. Uncle Terry excepted Jesus as his salvation and is excited about living for Jesus. with family and friends together at the Ipswich SDA Church Uncle Terry publicly declared his love for Jesus.

2023 has brought some Positive changes for our SQ ATSIM Community, SQ ATSIM has a new church home in Inala, the Wangarra Hall 67 Poinsettia St Inala QLD 4077, it was great timing for Pastor Darren Garlett and a group from NT visit with us on the opining of our new church venue. we meet every Sabbath morning from 10:00am to 1pm, please drop in a say hi to the Brisbane Mob a big thank you to Dug who did the welcome to County with young Elijah.

I had the opportunity to attend NAIDOC celebrations at the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre, unfortunately this was the only photo I was allowed to take. Attending this event allowed SQ ATSIM to connect with the Youth and the staff of the detention Centre, some of the young ones performed in front of a good size group of visitors, SQ ATSIM has been asked by the head of the cultural unit to have some involvement with their Indigenous youth, we look forward to posting once things eventuate.

NAIDOC 2022 Sabbath South Queensland, "get up stand up and show up". What a great theme, we were blessed to have young Llydissa Douglas a second-year Mammarapha student lead out with the 2022 NAIDOC service at the Murri-Wantok Church, Lladyssa's message was about breaking down cycles, her message was received well by the church community, it's so encouraging to have young Indigenous leadership with SQ ATSIM representing culture and the Gospel.

SQ ATSIM was invited to share the acknowledgement of Country at the ADRA Logan graduation ceremony, I was encouraged to see a good number of Indigenous graduating with a certificate 1 in conservation and caterng, ADRA Logan is doing a great work in connecting with the first nation community of Logan, you know our mob too shy to have their photos taken, well done to all the graduates of 2022

Having the opportunity to head out to Kingaroy & Murgon churches, pastor Leathan is very keen to see the ATSIM work grow in these areas, and hope to run some programs for the Cherbourg Community in the coming months. It was great to have brother Jason Cohen join me with the visit

The SQ ATSIM department held its first Cultural Awareness Traning for all South Queensland Conference offices. Bianca Cook presented to all Conference offices over two separate dates to include everyone in the office. The SQ Conference office will now continue on their five-step Cultural Competency RoadMap. Looking forward to great things regarding Reconciliation in the SQ Conference
