Australian Confraternity of Catholic Clergy

Australian Confraternity of Catholic Clergy The ACCC assists Catholic clergy in Australia to grow in zeal, learning and holiness. The ACCC has five objectives:
1.

The Australian Confraternity of Catholic Clergy (ACCC) is a private, voluntary and fraternal association of Catholic bishops, priests and deacons of the dioceses of Australia. The ACCC is constituted in conformity with the Code of Canon Law:

"Secular clergy have the right of association with others for the achievement of purposes befitting the clerical state." — Can. 287 § 1. Our fraternity helps

members build up each other in the grace of their vocation. It hopefully increases the wider flourishment of authentic living and exercise of vocations among bishops, priests and deacons, and attracts younger men to consider a vocation to the Sacred Ministry. Membership is also open to lay and religious faithful who support the clerical association in its objectives. To give glory and honour to the Most Blessed Trinity.
2. To assist the eternal salvation and holiness of members.
3. To foster unity among Catholic priests and deacons with the bishops in loyalty to the Supreme Magisterium.
4. To encourage faithfulness to priestly life and ministry.
5. To assist bishops, priests and deacons in the fulfilment of their ministry of teaching, sanctifying and governing. The Confraternity has active branches in New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland, and ACCC members also reside in the ACT, Tasmania and New Zealand.

The SA Branch of the ACCC hosted a Clergy Recollection today which was preached by Fr Bortolino Maistrello OFM Conv from the Pontifical Basilica of St Anthony in Padova. Fr Bortolino is visiting Australia with the first class relic of St Anthony and has spent the past week in Adelaide for the Feast of St Anthony at Payneham. The clergy present were grateful for Fr Bortolino’s insightful reflection on the lives of St Francis and St Anthony.

Joyful Celebration as Father Ha Van Tran Ordained to the Priesthood

The Catholic Diocese of Bathurst rejoiced on 1 May 2026 as Deacon Ha Van Tran was ordained to the priesthood in the Cathedral of St Michael and St John, Bathurst. Family, friends and faithful gathered from across the Diocese, around Australia and from overseas to witness this significant moment in the life of the Church.

It was a special joy to welcome Father Ha’s parents and younger brother, who travelled to share in this memorable occasion and to support him as he begins his priestly ministry.

The Ordination Mass was enriched by music generously offered by the Cathedral Parish choir, the Good Shepherd Seminary Scholar and a Vietnamese choir. Their contribution added to the beauty and spirit of the liturgy, reflecting the unity and diversity of the Church.

Following many years of formation, prayer and preparation, Father Ha now begins his ministry as a priest of the Diocese of Bathurst. The faithful gave thanks to God for his vocation and for the gift of a new priest for the Diocese.

Bishop Michael McKenna has appointed Father Ha to St Bridget’s Parish, Dubbo, where he will commence his first pastoral assignment as a priest.

Please continue to keep Father Ha in your prayers as he begins this new chapter of service to God’s people.
