11th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A
The Gospel portrays Jesus as the compassionate shepherd of his suffering people. Jesus is concerned not only with their spiritual and practical needs, but also about ensuring there are enough ‘labourers’ on the ground to reach every ‘lost sheep’.
As I pray this week, how is my relationship with the Good Shepherd, to whom I belong?

Today’s feast of Corpus Christi invites us to celebrate and reflect with gratitude on the mystery of the Eucharist. This is the great gift of Jesus’s very self: the bread of life. The readings help us see how God nourishes us, draws us together as one, and calls us to trust in him. This week, we pray for a deeper trust in the gift of the Eucharist, and especially for those unable to share in it for whatever reason, remembering that God loves every one of us unconditionally.

THE HOLY TRINITY YEAR A
The Gospel is part of Jesus’s conversation with Nicodemus. It clearly states that the Father gave his Son Jesus, with infinite love, to bring eternal life.
May we strive to live this week in the fellowship of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, spreading God’s love and peace.

PENTECOST YEAR A
On this great celebration of the descent of the Holy Spirit, this weekend readings tell of the gifts of consolation and peace, and of the commissioning of the disciples. The First Reading describes how the Holy Spirit arrives as tongues of fire, with the gift of communication. The Gospel recalls the appearance of the Risen Christ to the disciples in the Upper Room. Christ’s gift of consoling peace empowers them for mission. Let us pray, this week, that we, like them, might receive what the Lord wants to give us and so respond in like manner.

The Ascension of the Lord Year A
Forty days after the Resurrection, Jesus ascends to heaven. He ascends triumphant to sit at the Father’s right hand. For the disciples, their time of formation with him is over. How is their relationship with him altered? Matthew’s Gospel account of the Ascension focuses on Jesus’ authority and his sending forth of the disciples to witness, baptize and teach. He promises to be with them ‘to the end of time.’ This week, we pray that all those who are struggling may find peace and know God’s presence in their heart.

SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER YEAR A
The Gospel reminds us of the unbreakable bond between us and Christ, expressed through love for God and for each other, and through obedience to his commandments.
During this special Easter period, may we be strengthened, comforted and inspired by the Holy Spirit to know what it is be called children of God.

FIFTH SUNDAY IN EASTER YEAR A
The Gospel comes from the Last Supper discourse, where Jesus prepares his friends for his departure. Thomas and Philip find it hard to follow his words, but they will never be alone, for Jesus will be alongside them. He is the way, the truth and the life.

This week, we pray for all who are unable to accept Jesus as the cornerstone of their life. As we go about our own lives in the coming days, we might use the response to the psalm: ‘May your merciful love be upon me, as I hope in you, O Lord.
