"Contrary to how it was portrayed, de Bruyn’s speech was not just a rehashing of the Catholic position on contentious issues. Rather, but a reflection on how to live one’s Catholic faith in the public sphere." 🔥

The mass walkout of staff and students at the ACU graduation ceremony, and the failure of leadership to back Joe de Bruyn, not only reflects poorly on the university, it entirely missed the point of de Bruyn’s address, writes Monica Doumit.

October 31 marks All Hallows' Eve, a special time as we prepare our hearts for All Saints Day. While many know it as Halloween, this vigil holds deep meaning in Catholic tradition. It’s a day to celebrate the Church Triumphant and honour the Saints who inspire us on our spiritual journeys. Let’s embrace this occasion as a chance for true devotion, remembering that “hallow” means “holy.” Through the intercession of the Saints, we can nurture hope and strive for our own sanctity. May our observance bring us closer to God’s kingdom, a place He has prepared for His faithful. ✝️🙏

In a heartfelt tribute, Archbishop Mark Coleridge reflected on his deep friendship with the late Bishop Michael Putney during the Bishop Michael Putney Memorial Lecture recently. As His Grace prepares for retirement, he cherishes the memories of their conversations and emphasised how Bishop Michael's vision of ecumenism profoundly shaped his own journey. Archbishop Mark highlighted Putney's unwavering commitment to fostering unity among diverse faiths, describing him as a visionary of Paradise with a heart big enough for everyone. 🙏

Throughout history, there have been many heroes of our faith – we call them Saints! They were human beings of all ages, not unlike us, who said ‘yes’ to following Jesus and shared God’s love with others in amazing ways.

In a particular way, the Church remembers this ‘great cloud of witnesses’ and calls on their intercession when we celebrate the Feast of All Saints. They are like a heavenly cheer squad, praying for us and encouraging us to follow Jesus in all we do.

To help include the children in your parish or family in the celebration of the Feast of All Saints on 1st November. our Children and Families Team have created some resources that you might like to use, to pray with the saints and get to know them better!
