Brassall First Ward Youth Service Project – COMFORT ON A COLD NIGHT. The Young Women of Brassall First Ward wanted to provide a service project combined with the Young Men. The girls decided to do something to help those LESS FORTUNATE in our local community.
Many youth have part-time work; are involved in sporting activities and pursuits, so finding time for a large-scale project is difficult.
They needed a project able to be completed during a regular weeknight. They decided to provide comfort on a cold night by packing 150 insulated cups with a sachet of hot chocolate, milk, two prepackaged biscuits, a mint and a stirring stick, fitting perfectly into a cup with the lid attached. Each youth wrote a small inspirational note to put into each; such as “God loves you” “You are not alone” “Remember that people care”, and so on.
The cups were delivered to Ipswich charity “Helping our Homies Inc” who were very appreciative. Sister McNab, the YW President attended the night-time Street Feed on Thursday 11 June, where she saw first-hand how grateful people were for a lovely warm drink on a cool night. The youth who participated found this to be a rewarding service activity.

Matthew 25:40
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Galatians 5:14
For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: Thou shalt love they neighbour as thyself.

Dallas (L) from Helping our Homies Inc, receives the hot chocolate cups from Chantelle Verwimp, Eleanor, Xavier and Mary Ann McNab

Dear PARENTS of Primary Children and Leaders of Ipswich West Aust Stake, PLEASE SHARE THIS VIDEO with your Primary children. We look forward to you sharing their words here.

To enhance your home-centred Gospel learning, we encourage you to help your primary children to “recognise the influence of the Holy Ghost during the ordinance of the Sacrament, and then .. learn to act on received promptings with confidence.” You could start to talk about these ideas - Who is the Holy Ghost? - Why is the Holy Ghost important to us? - How can we learn to feel the Holy Ghost in our lives? - What does the Holy Ghost feel like? - How is the Holy Ghost and the Sacrament related?
With love, your Stake Primary Presidency.

STAKE TEMPORAL & EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS Post #2 "Extended Pantry" - CONGRATULATIONS of getting organised to create a functional easy to operate EXTENDED PANTRY. These are a few ways we encourage Temporal and Emergency preparedness.
Step 1. TAKE AN INVENTORY of what you already have on hand. You may want to start just with pantry items, or you can get very busy and do bathroom and laundry supplies as well. Let your budget dictate how to proceed.
Remember you are BUILDING A BUFFER NOT A BUNKER.
Step 2. DECIDE WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO STOCK in your extended pantry. How are you going to multiply your regular grocery items?
• For example, if you buy 1 can of tuna per week are you going to buy 3 cans at the regular price this week so you have 2 on hand at the end of the week?
• Or you could buy extra of what is on special this week that you would normally buy so you save money into the future.
• Or are you going to by a bulk amount of say rice, sugar or flour and decant it into smaller containers and have extra supplies on hand that way?
• Or are you going to look for bargains from marked down meat, milk, fruit and vegetable and extend the shelf life by freezing, bottling or dehydrating.
• Or could you organise a small co-op buying group?
• Or is there a glut of one thing in your garden that you could trade for something else?

The other approach that works is to create A 2-WEEK MEAL PLAN and buy according to recipes.
For example, if you use rice every week and you use 250g then for a 2 week supply you need 500g.
For a 1-month supply you need 1kg of rice or for 3 months’ supply you need 3kg.
Remember to MARK EACH ITEM WITH DATE OF PURCHASE, to help with rotation, Remember FIFO (first in first out). You can also write on the expiration date, where it was purchased from and the cost.
This helps you to track what time of year specific items are likely to come on very good specials.

Photo 1 - is about swapping your excess garden produce for something that someone else swaps with you. To explain we swapped a few bags of our mandarins for these 2 jars of jam that Pixie Parry (Kingaroy Branch) made. It was her first attempt at making jam and she was so very pleased with herself.
Photo 2 - Purchase marked down supermarket items and freeze to extend shelf life.
Photo 3 - Store and buy items according to menu planning meals.
Photo 4 - Learn to preserve when foods are in season by pressure canning, water bath canning or dehydrating to extend shelf life.

STAKE PRIMARY NEWS - It was a privilege for the Stake Primary Presidency to meet with the NEWLY CALLED KINGAROY BRANCH PRIMARY PRESIDENCY at their Branch Conference last week. We appreciated the opportunity to spend time together, become acquainted, and discuss ways we can support and strengthen the children in their branch. Our conversations centred on building and organising their team to
 help each child feel their Heavenly Father’s love
 learn about His plan of happiness
 live the gospel of Jesus Christ, and
 feel, recognize, and act on the influence of the Holy Ghost.
We were inspired by the faith, enthusiasm, and willingness of this new presidency as they begin serving the children and families in their branch. We know that as leaders, teachers, and parents work together in love and unity, the children will continue to grow in testimony, confidence, and joy in the gospel. We look forward to supporting the Kingaroy Branch Primary and witnessing the wonderful things the Lord has in store for them.

THANK YOU IAWS for your GIFTS of 'LIFE" ... BLOOD, PLASMA, PLATELET DONATIONS and your many ACTS OF SERVICE in April. Donations are still encouraged and can be linked with the team The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Ipswich West Stake. This very personal message from Sister Belford in Warwick Ward. I have her permission to share this. "I am a weekly receiver of blood and or platelets. I appreciate your donations and thank you so much for the service you all provide.”
Did you know there is a NATIONAL CHURCH “TEAM” our stake members can nominate when they give blood as part of the “UNITED BY FAITH” blood drive? Members all around Australia are being recognised each time they contribute in any way through blood or plasma donations. The Church is then able to be recognised as one of the faith groups participating in the challenge. Below is the link to JustServe which highlights the program. Count yourself in. Join the drive with your Lifeblood Team today. Give life. Give blood.

Are you thinking that with the RISING PRICES, and an UNCERTAIN FUTURE in the world that you need to HAVE MORE FOOD or other necessities in your home right now? .... Don’t Panic: GET ORGANISED! Each week Sis Grace & Bro Glen Barke will share a lifetime of useful tips as our STAKE TEMPORAL & EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS Specialists.
Step 1. DECLUTTER everything that is no longer used or useful from every nook and cranny in your home, garage and shed – otherwise there is no space for storage ! You need logical places for extras and not have them stored all over the place.
A few USEFUL TIPS:
1. Have a large plastic storage container, a cardboard box and a black rubbish bag as you go.
2. The plastic container is for items you are not sure about “A Time Will Tell Bin”. If you don’t look for an item in there for 6 months to a year you can safely toss it.
3. The cardboard Box is for donations, things that are useful and in good repair. Or you may like to hold a garage sale to help finance your extended pantry items.
4. The black rubbish bag is for rubbish. It’s black so no one can see what is being cut and can’t catch an eye to be kept again.
*Remember* only toss what belongs to you or gain permission from others before tossing their precious items. WHY is this STEP #1 ??
Because you and your family will need to make room for the extra supplies necessary for 1, 2, or 3 months; that means logical places for extras and not have them stored all over the place.
If you have a LINEN CUPBOARD full of sheets, towels and blankets, BEGIN THERE. Store these linens in the bedrooms they belong to or if you have extras under beds or donate. A linen cupboard is a great place to centrally locate your extra supplies. Enquiries to [email protected]
A few useful YouTubers to help keep you on track and inspire you are “The Minimal Mom”, “Cas the Clutterbug” and “Dana K. White”.
STAY TUNED FOR STEP 2!!!
