🌱 Building Self-Reliance — One Step at a Time – WHAT BLESSINGS or POSITIVE CHANGES have you seen ? and ... WELCOME to our new stake Specialists – Sis Jacqui & Bro. Mark Jennings !
In the April 2022 General Conference, Elder Hugo E Martinez of the Seventy shared that self-reliance is “the ability, commitment, and effort to provide the spiritual and temporal necessities of life for self and family.” (General Handbook 22.0). He also reminded us that "self-reliance is … a lifelong process of learning, growth and work. It never ends; it is a continuous, daily process.”
There are many helpful resources available on the Church website to support us in our self-reliance - journey. This is a great place to start: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/life/self-reliance/how-to-increase-my-self-reliance?lang=eng
Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing information and ideas about different ways we can strengthen both our spiritual and temporal self-reliance. We’d also love to LEARN FROM EACH OTHER.
If you feel comfortable sharing, WHAT BLESSINGS or POSITIVE CHANGES have you seen in YOUR OWN LIFE or on your family ? . as you’ve worked on an area of self-reliance? Your experience may be just the encouragement someone else needs!

FINAL REMINDER .. "Brother and sisters, AUGUST is National Family History Month. Everyone in our family tree or those yet to be found and recorded in our family tree is an individual, a child of God with divine potential just like us. In the Lord's perfect plan of salvation he made allowance for every individual child of His to be offered the saving ordinances and covenants, if they choose, and thereby salvation. What a wonderful plan!!

President Howard W. Hunter, a previous church president noted: “I have always been impressed that the Lord deals with us personally, individually. We do many things in groups in the Church, …. but …. the most important things are done individually. We bless babies one at a time, even if they are twins or triplets. We baptize and confirm children one at a time. We take the sacrament, are ordained to the priesthood, or move through the ordinances of the temple as individuals, trying to develop a [personal] relationship with our Father in Heaven …. Heaven’s emphasis is on everyone, on every single person”.

The stake presidency feels to invite you to do at least one of three family history activities during August;
1. Research, find and submit at least one new family name to the temple
2. Attend the Brisbane temple with a family name
3. Attaching memories—a photo, story, or document to your ancestor’s profile pages in family search.

We pray that the promised blessings be upon you, as you help the Lord with gathering His children to Him, through this great work".
