Today we honour and remember Alan, who faithfully served our community for decades through his dedication to the Red Shield Appeal.

For many people, seeing Alan at the local shopping centre with his collection tin became a familiar and valued part of the year. Rain, shine, busy days or quiet ones — Alan showed up with kindness, commitment, and a heart to make a difference for others.

His service was never about recognition. It was about people. About helping those doing it tough. About quietly and faithfully giving his time year after year.

Alan’s impact reached far beyond the coins placed in a tin. His consistency, generosity, and servant-hearted spirit left a lasting mark on our community and on all of us who had the privilege of knowing him.

We are deeply grateful for Alan’s life, his years of faithful service, and the legacy he leaves behind.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones at this time. ❤️

We’re giving a big shout out to Majura Primary School and Murray Consulting, The Mens Shed and Key2Learning … all these donations have honest hampers and our toy room set up for families to come through next week!

This week we were blessed with multiple opportunities to celebrate our awesome volunteers, both those who volunteer at our Community Days in Braddon and at Salvostores across ACT/QBN. 🙌🙌

Today we’re celebrating one of everyone’s fave - the big yellow van @ OzHarvest Canberra! 🛻

Last month a small group of our volunteers, participants + community members were invited to a special dining experience at COMPA as a part of Oz Harvest’s CEO cook off. What a delight it was to see some of our everyday heros celebrated, all while money was raised to keep the dream alive fighting food insecurity and fostering connection in community.

We love the team @ Oz Harvest, this partnership ensures over 200+ a week are regularly cooked up and served to our community!

Today we’re thankful for the incredible team @ Grill'd Canberra Centre for tonights free community feed!

Once a month they close their restaurant to paying customers to host a free fee for people doing it tough in the city, and for friends connected to local Salvos + Vinnies programs.

Tonight we wrapped up with some extra Christmas cheer - featuring our own Shieldy mascot, and santa!

Today we’re thankful for the incredible generosity from Domino's Pizza @ Canberra City for their recent Doughraisers campaign giving generously to our Christmas Cheer. 🙌

Last Wednesday, $1 from every pizza sold @ the city store came straight to us, and we’re using this $$ to contribte to 1,000 hampers for households doing it tough across our community.

Did you miss it? Dont worry!

This Wednesday they’re doing it again! If you don’have dinner plans … why not choose pizza?!
