✨🌍✨ Today is World Day of Prayer! ✨🌍✨
Did you know this day was first initiated by a group of ordinary Christian Women in the 19th century? With a vision for global Christian unity, they encouraged personal prayer and leadership in community prayer, believing it to be essential to the heart of mission work.
Rooted in caring for women and children in oppressive situations, despite resistance, over 170 countries now join this powerful movement.
“We have learned the great lesson to pray with rather than just for our sisters of other races and nation, thus enriching our experience and power to complete the tasks entrusted to us”.
The 2026 theme, from Nigeria, draws on Matthew 11:28–30:
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
As many carry heavy burdens - shame, oppression, poverty, persecution, or despair - this day reminds us of God’s rest and the strength found in community. True rest is not just physical relief, but transformation through God’s grace and support. 🙏
As the world grows increasingly challenging and complex, we warmly invite you, whether privately or at a service, to join us in standing united through prayer, advocating for peace, justice, and support for those in need around the world.
