Lutheran Church of Australia - Victoria & Tasmania We believe that we are saved 'by grace, for Christ's sake, through faith'

๐Ÿ“ข Pastors, congregational leaders and other interested congregational members:

Next Tuesdayโ€™s (22nd Sept) Explorations in Mission and Ministry (EmmY) will begin with a conversation with a congregation that has been intentionally putting its learning from 'Growing Young' into practice.

Weโ€™ll hear something of their journey: what they have tried, what has changed, what they have learned, and how their thinking about young people, leadership and intergenerational ministry has developed along the way.

From there, weโ€™ll widen the conversation and ask:
How do we become churches where every generation belongs, contributes and grows in Christ together?

Join us! You can find Zoom details for the morning's session (and repeated session in the evening) here: https://qld.lca.org.au/2026/09/09/september-emmy/

Have you heard about Ignite?

Ignite is a student-led worship, currently hosted monthly at Luther College in Croydon Hills. Every month, students, families, friends and members of the community gather for a young-adult let worship with music, God's word, conversation, reflection and community.

Ignite exists to provide space for people to explore and encounter Jesus, grow in community, and grow deeper in discipleship.

The below video was shared with us by Pastor Nathan Hedt. It is a wonderful insight into the work God is doing in our community.

You are warmly invited to join Ignite for their next worship service on Sunday 13th September at 5pm. Meet in Building W at Luther College (Gate 9 on Plymouth Rd). The service will be followed by a meal.

All are welcome- if you plan to attend, you can notify the group using this link to RSVP (free): https://www.trybooking.com/DJDNA

For more information, contact Pastor Nathan ([email protected]).

๐Ÿ†˜Nepal flood disaster: support needed

Severe flooding in Nepal has caused widespread devastation, with early reports indicating that more than 150 people have lost their lives and hundreds remain missing.

ALWS has been in contact with its Lutheran partners in Nepal, including The Lutheran World Federation (LWF). A safety assessment has confirmed that staff from Lutheran organisations working in the region are safe and accounted for.

LWF teams are now developing an emergency response plan and assessing the impact on affected communities. Based on previous disaster responses in Nepal, anticipated needs include emergency shelter, food supplies, safe water, sanitation and other essential items.

As a church, we pray for all those affected by this disaster, for those still unaccounted for, and for emergency workers and aid agencies responding to the crisis.

How you can help:

Donations to the ALWS Emergency Fund enable rapid assistance when disasters strike and help Lutheran partners provide support where it's most needed.
