Melvin Ernest Trotter once felt so hopeless that he walked toward Lake Michigan, planning to end his life.

He had struggled with alcohol, broken promises, and lost jobs. But before he reached the lake, he heard someone preaching about Jesus at the Pacific Garden Mission.

Melvin stopped and listened.

That moment changed his life. He discovered that Jesus could give him a new beginning—and he never drank again.

But Melvin didn't keep that hope to himself. He went on to help start 67 RESCUE MISSIONS, helping people who were struggling just as he once had.

Melvin thought his story was over. God showed him it was only the beginning.

Sometimes, God can write a new chapter in a story we thought was finished.

In 1973, J.R.R. Tolkien died at the age of 81.

Most of us know him as the author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. But behind the stories was another story—a friendship with C.S. Lewis.

They talked about stories, truth, and faith. And Tolkien’s friendship played an important part in Lewis’ journey to Christ.

Sometimes, God uses a simple friendship to change a life.

You never know what He might do through yours.

Is our God an angry God?

Hebrews 10 contains some confronting words about God’s judgment. But what happens when we take those verses out of context?

This message explores what the Bible really means by “deliberate sin” — and reminds us that God’s warning is not the whole story. There is also repentance, grace, forgiveness and hope.

Sometimes, understanding the context changes everything.

IS OUR GOD AN ANGRY GOD?

When life gets hard, it’s easy to wonder: Is God angry with me?

Hebrews 10:39 reminds us not to shrink back, but to keep trusting God—even when fear, pressure and uncertainty surround us.

Faith isn’t about never being afraid.
It’s about knowing who to trust when we are.

Join us this Sunday as we explore what Hebrews 10 reveals about God’s heart.

William Wilberforce was a politician in 18th-century England. Then, in 1785, he became a Christian. His new faith changed the way he saw the world—and the people around him. He began speaking up against the slave trade and spent 18 years fighting for change. It wasn't easy. But he didn't give up.

In 1807, Britain abolished the slave trade.

Wilberforce reminds us:
Faith isn't just about what we believe.
It's also about what we do with what we believe.

What could your faith change in your world?

He had nowhere to go—until a Christian opened his home and said, “Come live with me.”

For Mez McConnell, that simple act of Christian love became the beginning of a new chapter—and ultimately, a life devoted to serving Jesus and reaching others.

Sometimes, God changes a life through something as simple as showing up, opening our homes, and welcoming someone into community.

Faith was never meant to be lived alone.

There are times when we all need someone.

Someone to listen.
Someone to pray with us.
Someone to encourage us when life gets hard.
Someone to remind us that we’re not alone.

That’s what community is about.

Church isn’t just a place we go on Sunday. It’s a family we can belong to.

Tomorrow, we’ll look at why God wants us to walk through life together.

📖 “Let us not neglect our meeting together, but encourage one another…” —Hebrews 10:25

What if God has forgiven you… but you still feel guilty?

Sometimes we know God forgives us, but deep down, we still feel like we have to make up for what we’ve done.

So we try harder.
We do more.
We try to be “good enough.”

But what if we don’t have to?

Jesus has already done what we could never do for ourselves.

This Sunday, we’ll look at what it means to find freedom from a guilty conscience.

📖 “The blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God.” — Hebrews 9:14
