Today we celebrated Mother’s Day by fixing our eyes on Jesus and the beauty of His heart for us.

Through the stories of women in Scripture, we were reminded that Christ is compassionate, powerful, and full of grace.

He saw the bleeding woman others overlooked and called her Daughter.
He defended the adulterous woman and offered her mercy with a new beginning.
He called Mary Magdalene out of darkness into freedom and purpose.
He entrusted the women at the tomb with the first announcement of His resurrection.

In every encounter, Jesus revealed the same heart:

He sees the unseen.
He heals the broken.
He restores the ashamed.
He calls the lost.
He gives hope to the weary.

This is the heart of our Saviour.

Today we also honoured the women in our church—mothers, grandmothers, daughters, sisters, and spiritual mothers—and thanked God for the way they reflect His love, strength, and care.

Most of all, we leave reminded that no matter who we are or what we carry, Jesus welcomes us to come near.

Seen. Known. Restored.
All because of Him.

In Matthew 28:1–10, everything shifts.

What looked final is undone.
The stone is rolled away—not to let Jesus out,
but to show us He is already gone.

“He is not here. He has risen… just as He said.”

Fear and joy collide.
Running turns into worship.
And the place of death becomes the place of encounter.

Psalm 16 whispers the deeper truth:

“You will not abandon me to the realm of the dead…
You make known to me the path of life.”

Resurrection was always God’s plan.

So we don’t come to Jesus expecting routine—
we come expecting new life.

Hope
Assurance
Promise.

So maybe the question isn’t, Am I too far gone?
But, Do I believe His Grace is able to renew the broken parts of me?

Because He is risen—victorious and reigning —nothing is beyond Him now.

In Matthew 27:57-66, everything goes quiet.

Jesus is buried.
The stone is rolled in place.
The tomb is sealed. Guards are set.

To everyone there It looks finished.
Certain. Final.

But this is the space in between—
where promises have been spoken are yet to be seen.

And waiting can feel wearisome .

Psalm 31 embodies this heaviness:

“I have come to you for refuge…
Be my rock and my fortress…
I entrust my spirit into your hands.”

Waiting isn’t passive—it’s trust.
A steady choosing to believe that God is still at work, even when everything looks still.

Because the sealed tomb is not the end of the story.

So maybe the question isn’t, Why is nothing happening?
But, Can I trust Him… even here?

In the silence.
In the waiting.
In the not yet.

In Matthew 27:45–50, darkness covers the land.
And Jesus cries out,
“My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?” I can’t imagine wha that would have felt like for our Lord.

It’s raw.
Unfiltered.
The kind of prayer we don’t always know we’re allowed to pray.

Jesus enters the silence.
The distance.
The feeling of being abandoned.

And He doesn’t hide from it—He calls out to His Father.

Psalm 22 -a messianic Psalm, gives us the same words:

“My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?…
I call… but you do not answer.”

This is a faith that doesn’t pretend everything is okay.

And yet—even here—Jesus is not outside the Father’s plan.
Even in the silence, God is still at work.

Because the cross shows us this:
feeling abandoned doesn’t mean we are.

Jesus stepped into that darkness
so we would never be alone in ours.

So maybe the question isn’t, Where is God?
But, Can I bring Him this honestly?

Even the ache.
Even the silence.

In John 13:13–16, Jesus shows us what it is to follow Him.

The Teacher, the Lord—the One with all authority—gets down and washes feet in humble service.

“I’ve set you an example…”

Following Jesus isn’t just what we believe—it’s how we live.
Loving others and Serving when no one notices.

Psalm 116 puts words to the response:

“What shall I return to the Lord for all His goodness to me?”

When you really see His kindness, His grace— serving isn’t an inconvenience, it is a joy.

So maybe the question isn’t, Do I have to do this?
But, How can I not? How can I glorify my Heavenly Father today?

Because the One who served us first
is the One we are to imitate and be like.
