Election Day: a 2 minute devotional.
Today is a day of anxiety. Many of us are concerned about what today’s election results might mean for the things important to us.
When the election results come in, you may be disappointed by the party who wins majority, and perhaps even fearful about what it might mean for the things you’re passionate about. Or, your preferred party might win the balance of power, but you turn your nose up at some of their policies. All of this is enough to cause anxiety, and perhaps even fear.
But lift up your eyes and see that our God reigns. Our future government is subject to Him. Ours is a merciful and just God who loves us enough to put on flesh and dwell among us. Jesus - the God-man died, so that all who believe in Him will not perish but have eternal life. So have no fear.
This perfectly just, merciful, loving and sacrificial God is our King. He rules the earth and every nation is subject to Him. No government can throw God off His heavenly throne. No policy can corrupt the good news of the gospel. No politician can undermine God’s love justice or mercy.
But, this doesn’t undermine our responsibility as Jesus followers.
Get out there and vote - but do so prayerfully
Lift your eyes above today’s results and remember OUR GOD REIGNS
Pray for our future government and elected leaders.
