Passion Week | Holy Saturday | The Waiting Heart
Reading: Matthew 27:57–66

The stone is sealed. The tomb is quiet. Hope seems buried.
Holy Saturday is the space between promise and fulfillment — the day when nothing appears to move. Yet unseen, God is still working.
You may know this silence. Prayers unanswered. Grief unresolved. Questions lingering.
The waiting heart trusts even when it cannot see.

Prayer
Hidden God,
steady me in uncertain spaces.
Teach me to trust your unseen faithfulness. Amen.

Passion Week | Good Friday | The Broken and Open Heart
Reading: Matthew 27:27–54

The cross stands stark and brutal. Mockery, abandonment, suffering. Jesus cries out in anguish. The earth shakes. The temple curtain tears.
The heart of God is revealed here — not in force, but in self-giving love. What appears as defeat becomes redemption. The barrier between holy and broken is torn open.
Stand here without rushing ahead. Let the weight of love settle in you. Where your heart lives is revealed most clearly at the foot of the cross.

Prayer
Crucified Lord,
hold me in the shadow of your sacrifice.
Let your love reshape my heart. Amen.

Passion Week | Maundy Thursday | The Surrendered Heart
Reading: Matthew 26:17–30, 36–46

At the table, Jesus gives bread and cup — his body, his blood. Even as betrayal sits nearby, he offers himself freely.
In Gethsemane, we see the cost. “My soul is overwhelmed.” Yet he prays, “Not as I will, but as you will.” This is the heart fully surrendered.
Lent has asked you to release many things. Now you see what surrender truly means. It is trust in the Father when the path ahead is dark.
Will you stay awake with him?

Prayer
Surrendered Christ,
teach me trust when fear rises.
Shape my will to echo yours. Amen.

Passion Week | Wednesday | The Loving Heart
Reading: Matthew 26:6–13

In Bethany, a woman anoints Jesus with costly perfume. Others call it waste. Jesus calls it beautiful.
As betrayal gathers momentum, she responds with devotion. She gives what she has without calculating return. Her love is extravagant because it recognises worth.
After forty days of reordering priorities, this moment asks: What is Christ worth to you? Is your devotion cautious — or courageous?
Love that understands the cross does not hold back.

Prayer
Beloved Jesus,
free me from restrained affection.
Teach me the beauty of wholehearted love. Amen.

Passion Week | Tuesday | The Watching Heart
Reading: Matthew 24:36–44

“Keep awake.” Jesus speaks of watchfulness — not anxiety, but attentiveness. The disciples do not fully understand what is unfolding. They sense urgency, but not yet clarity.
After forty days of reflection, it is tempting to relax spiritually. Yet Holy Week calls you deeper. Stay present. Notice what stirs within you. Watch how God moves in silence and in sorrow.
The watching heart does not drift into distraction. It stays near Christ.

Prayer
Awakening Lord,
guard me from spiritual drowsiness.
Keep my heart alert to your presence. Amen.

Passion Week | Monday | The Heart Cleansed
Reading: Matthew 21:12–17

Jesus enters the temple and overturns the tables. What was meant to be sacred had become cluttered and distorted. His actions are fierce, but they are loving. He clears space so prayer can breathe again.
For forty days, you have invited God to search your heart. Now Christ walks through its inner courts. What still needs overturning? What habits, resentments, distractions crowd your devotion?
Cleansing is uncomfortable. Yet grace is not afraid to disrupt what harms us. Holy Week begins with holy honesty.

Prayer
Purifying Christ,
overturn what keeps me from you.
Restore my heart as a dwelling place of prayer. Amen.

Passion Week | Palm Sunday
Reading: Matthew 21: 1-11

After forty days of examining where your heart lives, you now enter Jerusalem with Jesus. The crowds cry, “Hosanna!” Cloaks are spread, palms are lifted, hope fills the air. Yet within days, many voices will change.
The human heart can praise on Sunday and doubt by Friday. We want a Saviour — but often one shaped by our expectations. Jesus comes gently, riding on a donkey, not wielding force but offering peace. The kingdom he brings is not built on domination but surrender.
As Lent moves toward its climax, ask yourself: Does my heart follow Christ only when he fits my plans? Or will I follow him even when his path leads through suffering?

Prayer
Humble King,
steady my shifting heart.
Let my praise endure beyond emotion.
Teach me to follow you in truth. Amen.
