In the middle of war, one man’s story is pointing not to violence, but to transformation.

Afshin Javid, who says he was once involved with Hezbollah and deeply committed to Islam, is now sharing a dramatic testimony of encountering Jesus, an experience he claims changed everything.

Speaking in an interview with CBN News, Javid recounted a moment from years ago while imprisoned in Malaysia.

According to his account, while praying in jail, he suddenly saw a man “whose being shone like light.” Overwhelmed, he said he felt a deep awareness of his own guilt and cried out for forgiveness.

What happened next, he says, marked the turning point of his life.
“He touched me and said, ‘I forgive you,’” Javid recalled.

Javid claims the figure then identified Himself with words Christians associate with Jesus: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” He says when he asked the name, the answer was “Jesus Christ.”

Since that moment, Javid says he left his former path and now leads a ministry focused on reconciliation and peace, including efforts to build bridges between Persians and Jewish communities.

During the recent Israel conflict that began with the October 7, 2023 attacks, Javid found himself in the region and publicly expressed grief over the violence. He met with victims’ families, offered prayers, and called for unity rather than hatred.

His message today is strikingly different from his past:
“No one should celebrate when one of the sons of Abraham is killing another.”

For many believers, stories like his echo the power of redemption, that no life is too far gone for grace. For others, it raises complex discussions about faith, conflict, and transformation.

But at the center of it all is a simple message:
Forgiveness is possible. And peace is still worth pursuing.

wow now this is truly the HAND of the LIVING GOD. NO one else can do this unless GOD is with them!!!!

Even behind bars, the power of Jesus is transforming lives. In 2024, God Behind Bars, a nationwide prison ministry founded by Jake Bodine, reports that hundreds of inmates gave their lives to Chris, including former Satanists, Wiccans, and long-term prisoners. One inmate, Daniel, once part of a satanic cult, said, “I’ve seen the glory of God… He is a warrior on your side.” The ministry reaches 2.3 million inmates, providing satellite campuses in prisons and the faith-based PandoApp with worship, sermons, and guidance. In May, 25 men from a South Dakota maximum-security prison were baptized, including a Wiccan leader and a life-sentenced inmate who made a spontaneous decision for Christ. Former inmate Shannon, once on the brink of su***de, prayed for a sign, received a care package, and now gives back to 1,000 women inmates. Beyond salvation, the ministry helps rebuild families, hosting events like “All is Bright” to reconnect incarcerated parents with their children and provide hope where it’s most needed. CEO Bodine says, “We will stop at nothing to ensure every inmate has access to the gospel, to heal, break cycles, and step into their calling as sons and daughters of the Most High.”
