HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to all fathers & father figures.

Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of fathers and father figures. Bless them with strength and wisdom, tenderness and patience. Fill their hearts with joy and peace, and guide them in all they do. When they are tired, give them renewed courage and hope. Surround them with your love today and always. In Jesus' name, Amen

Today’s GOSPEL - Matthew 6:24-34. The readings today remind us that creation is God's gift, Christ's possession and our responsibility. It flows from the love and creativity of the Holy Trinty.

At that time: Jesus said to his disciples, ‘No one can be the slave of two masters: a person will either hate the first and love the second or be attached to the first and despise the second. You cannot be the slave both of God and of money. ‘Therefore I tell you not to worry about your life, what you should eat, nor about your body, what you should wear. Surely life is more than food, and the body more than clothing! Look at the birds in the sky. They do not sow or reap or gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they are? Can any of you, by worrying, add one single cubit to your span of life? And why worry about clothing? Learn from the flowers of the fields, how they grow; they neither work nor spin, yet I assure you that not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grasses of the field which are there today and thrown into the furnace tomorrow, will he not much more clothe you, who have so little faith? So, do not worry; do not say,
“What should we eat? What should we drink? What should we wear?” It is the gentiles who strive for all these things. Your heavenly Father knows you need them all. Strive first for his kingdom, and righteousness, and all these other things will be given you as well. So do not worry about tomorrow: tomorrow will take care of itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.’

Sydney will host the 54th International Eucharistic Congress, known as Eucharist28, in 2028. The 54th International Eucharistic Congress is a global gathering held every four years. This marks 100 years since Sydney last hosted the Congress in 1928. Pilgrims from around the world will come together in worship, reflection, and celebration, united by a shared faith and a mission to carry Christ into the world.

EUCHARIST 28 Prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, we thank you for the gift of your real presence in the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.
Grant us the grace to receive you reverently,
worship you truly and serve you with hearts renewed.
By the power of the Holy Spirit strengthen us, so that as you gave yourself to the Father and to us, we too
may offer our lives to God and to others.
Inspire and help us to serve you in those who are in need, especially the defenceless and homeless, the lonely and lost.
Unite us with your sacrifice of the Mass,
so that we may truly become what we have received,
the Body of Christ.
Amen.

Today’s GOSPEL - Matthew 16:21-27

Jesus began to make it clear to his disciples that he was destined to go to Jerusalem and suffer grievously at the hands of the elders and chief priests and scribes, to be put to death and to be raised up on the third day. Then, taking him aside, Peter started to remonstrate with him. ‘Heaven preserve you, Lord;’ he said ‘this must not happen to you.’ But he turned and said to Peter, ‘Get behind me, Satan! You are an obstacle in my path, because the way you think is not God’s way but man’s.’

Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘If anyone wants to be a follower of mine, let him renounce himself and take up his cross and follow me. For anyone who wants to save his life will lose it; but anyone who loses his life for my sake will find it. What, then, will a man gain if he wins the whole world and ruins his life? Or what has a man to offer in exchange for his life? For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and, when he does, he will reward each one according to his behaviour.’
