There are still over 7,000 unreached people groups in the world.
That means entire cultures with no church, no local believers, and no scripture in their language. For many, there is simply no way to hear the good news of Jesus unless someone comes from outside.

This is why Unreached Peoples is a core value for Pioneers. We believe every person should have the chance to hear and understand the gospel in the context of their own language and culture.

Following Jesus means going where the need is greatest, where there are no believers to share His name. It means long-term presence; learning language, loving people, and walking alongside them until churches take root and multiply.

We focus here because Jesus told us to: “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matt 28:19). Because the gospel is for every tribe, tongue, and nation. Because the story isn’t complete until all have heard.

How you can be part of this:
🙏 Pray for specific unreached people groups.
💌 Send workers by supporting them financially and encouraging them.
🌏 Go if God is calling you to cross cultures with the gospel.

The task is big, but so is our God.

Hidden among the olive trees and wild grass of ancient Carthage lie the ruins of the Basilica of Damous El Karita, once the grandest church in Roman Africa, a sprawling Byzantine basilica with 11 aisles, a baptistery, and an underground rotunda. It was a centre of worship and pilgrimage for believers across the region.

Now, from the hill above, the Mâlik ibn Anas Mosque rises, a striking modern structure with a towering minaret, looking down over the silent basilica. Centuries ago, these grounds rang with prayer to Jesus. Today, most who walk past have no idea this land once pulsed with Christian life.

Across North Africa, millions belong to Unreached People Groups, communities with no local church and little or no access to the gospel in their heart language.

The ruins are more than history. They are a witness carved in stone, and a challenge: God has not forgotten North Africa, and neither should we.

📖 Pray for workers to go, to build trust and share Jesus in the heart languages of these communities.

Minangkabau (1.0 m) – Aimaq (1.8 m)
These are just two of the 1,800 people groups - 115 million individuals - who still have no Scripture portions or Gospel audio in their heart language (Joshua Project).

The Minangkabau in Indonesia and the Aimaq in Afghanistan are among the largest people groups without any bible or recordings available to them in their first language. They remain frontier groups - not only unreached but without any known church or gospel movement of their own.

At Pioneers, we believe every person should have the opportunity to hear about Jesus in the language they understand best.

🙏 Pray – for people groups like the Minangkabau and Aimaq to have access to the Word.
🤝 Support – the work of Pioneers Australia as we send and care for cross-cultural workers.
🛫 Go – if God is prompting you to explore mission among those who haven’t heard.

For us at Pioneers Australia, Passion for God isn’t just the first core value; it’s the one that shapes everything else.

It’s where mission starts, not with a plan or a map, but with a deep conviction that God is worthy of our trust, our obedience, and our whole lives. We go to hard places because we love Him. We stay because He’s worth it.

But this isn’t just for those who go.

Passion for God fuels prayer that changes lives, even when no one sees it. It turns giving into worship. And it keeps senders steady, quietly, faithfully, year after year.
Everyone who plays a part in the Great Commission does it because they believe He’s worth it.

One of our workers put it like this:

“We’re not here because we’re brave. We’re here because we believe God is.”

It’s not hype that gets you there. It’s knowing who God is and choosing to trust Him, again and again.

The gospel once took root here. Churches were planted. Lives were changed. However, over time, through conflict, displacement, and silence, it has been forgotten by many.

Today, across the Levant, there are around 70–80 unreached people groups (UPGs), depending on classification and regional boundaries.

Most of these groups are small in number but deeply rooted in cultural, religious, and historical identity. Many are Muslim, some are Druze or other minority religions, and a few are considered nominally Christian, yet still unreached by the gospel in a meaningful or multiplying way.

It’s not easy ground. The work is slow. Trust takes time. But God is working in the hearts of these precious people. They are hungry for the truth, and many are actively seeking, especially online.

Pray for those serving in this region. For courage when it’s costly. For wisdom in every conversation. And for the Good News to be known again in places where it hasn’t been heard in generations.

They’ve never heard the name of Jesus. Not once. Not in a sermon, a conversation, or a song.

That’s the reality for Frontier People Groups: communities with virtually no chance of encountering the gospel. No believers. No churches. No access. Of the 7,000+ unreached people groups in the world, over 4,000 are frontier groups. That’s nearly 2 billion people with little to no exposure to the hope we hold in Christ.

This isn’t just a statistic. It’s a call.

When Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:18-20), the word for “nations” was ethne - not political countries, but people groups. Distinct languages, cultures, and communities. And He didn’t just ask us to go where the gospel has already gone. He asked us to go to all of them.

The Great Commission hasn’t changed. But the gaps are clearer now than ever.

At Pioneers, we’re committed to sending cross-cultural teams to where the gospel isn’t, yet. To walk into hard places with humility, to learn language and culture, to live out the love of Jesus among those who’ve never seen it before.

It’s slow work. Long work. But it matters.

Will you pray? Will you go? Will you send?

The task isn’t finished. And the Church - you and I - are part of the story God is still writing.

A huge amount of prayer, planning and preparation goes into Orientation. This week of sessions is designed to equip and encourage those exploring long-term mission. As they listen, reflect, and connect with others on a similar path, we’re asking you to stand with them in prayer.

This week, we’re welcoming 31 adults and 8 children.

Here’s how you can pray:

- For every participant, the loud, the quiet, the confident and the unsure, to feel seen, welcomed, and drawn deeper into God’s heart for the nations.

- For every participant to gain clarity, form deep relational bonds, and experience a growing sense of family within Pioneers.

- For enquirers to listen well, discern their calling with wisdom, and clearly sense whether Pioneers is the right fit.

- For presenters and leaders, that they’d speak with Spirit-led clarity, respond to the room with discernment, and faithfully reflect God’s mission and the heart of Pioneers.

- That God would be glorified in every conversation, connection, and moment across the week.

And please pray for the kids! That the children attending would feel safe, have fun, and engage meaningfully with the mission heart of God through the kids’ program.
