On this day - September 7 - in 1892, the foundation stone for the Napperby Congregational Church (later Uniting Church) was laid by Mrs Charles Geddes and Mrs J J Nunan.

On this day - September 6 - in 1879, the foundation stone for the New Thebarton Bible Christian church was laid by Josiah Mitton, Mayor of Hindmarsh.

This church was built on the corner of Ashley and Jervois Streets in what is now known as Torrensville. It is not obvious that the building is still there.

On this day - August 29 - in 1954, George P. Bruce (son of an original Trustee and one of the earliest Methodist settlers in the district) laid the foundation stone for the Alford Methodist hall. The hall was opened in 1956.
