Bereni Pastoral was established in 2013 as a specialist hay business, servicing the feedlot, seedstock, commercial & dairy industries across regional NSW. Located at Billimari, on the banks of the Lachlan River, Bereni Pastoral is fortunate to have a high security water allocation which has drought proofed the business and offered continuity of supply to our fodder and feed grain clients for a number of years.
The mentorship bestowed upon the Bereni principals, Michael & Nicole, from two generational hay producers in the Lachlan Valley and the support of four skilled & experienced employees in Jason, Joe, Andy & Paul, has enabled this business to build a reputation for producing quality hay & meeting customer requirements. The hay game can absolutely be driven by testing & data, but for many producers and end users, it’s still a “look and feel” product that the stock must consume, which, in conjunction with lab analysis, is what Bereni strives to deliver.
Since 2013, we have built a reputation on reliability in supply, storage and transport in a somewhat vertically integrated format.
The Bereni offering to the above mentioned industries is underpinned by relationship building and meeting client demand. We are fortunate to have an abundance of hay storage, allowing us to take forward orders and deliver on demand, from the end of one hay season, to the beginning of the next.
In 2024, Bereni invested in a new large square baler with an updated rotor chopper. This chopper has not only been a game changer for improved feed mixing times in our lamb finishing lot, but has also opened a new hay market segment for our feedlot, dairy and seedstock clients using a TMR mixer wagon. With our lucerne, cereal hay and straw products, we offer (on order) processed material at around 40-60mm chop length, in large square bales. These bales can reduce chopping/mixing times by up to 40 minutes in a vertical screw style wagon and significantly reduce the over processing of lucerne leaf in rations. The initial uptake of this product by two existing clients in the dairy & lot fed lamb segments has encourage the business to expand the tonnage offering for the 2025/26 season.
The ex*****on of hay sales is a critical component to our service offering. Bereni takes the hassle out of freight coordination with a timely service on both B-double and Semi-trailer configurations from one of our four licensed drivers. With an on-farm weigh bridge and flexible delivery times, Bereni can work in with our client’s feeding schedules and delivery frequencies.
