Verbum Dei is an international Catholic Community founded by Fr. Jaime Bonet in Mallorca, Spain in 1963, receiving Pontifical approval on the 15th April, 2000 as an Institution of Consecrated Life in the Catholic Church. Verbum Dei is an international family united with one and the same charism and mission. At its core, there are three missionary branches: consecrated women, men (priests), who consecrate their lives to God through the profession of vows, and missionary couples who consecrate themselves to God. The community extends to and embraces people of all states and areas of life: single, married, old and young, students, people of different backgrounds and occupations. We seek to be a clear expression of the Kingdom of God, building up Christian communities of living faith through prayer, witness of life and the Ministry of the Word. The Community Offers:

- Daily input for prayer with the Word of God
- School of the Word (Prayer with the Word of God)
- School of Apostles (formation for people committed to evangelise)
- Weekend/or day retreats for young people, adults, and couples
- Silent retreats (guided prayer with the Word of God)
- University Chaplaincy Ministry
- Publication of daily readings with guidelines on the Word of God
- Members of the community are available on request, to speak or give retreats in schools, parishes or on individual guided basis.
- Spiritual guidance

Hello everyone, just giving you the heads up of our upcoming Advent retreat at All Hallows.

Advent Retreat - Save the Date!

Following the wonderful response to last year’s Advent Retreat, Fr Sebastian has invited the sisters from the Verbum Dei Sydney to return and lead another retreat this year.

Join us on Saturday, 21 November, from 1:30pm to 4:30pm for an afternoon of reflection and prayer as we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ.

Step into the quiet hope of Advent through a gentle retreat designed to help you pause, pray, and deepen your relationship with the Lord.

This special time will offer an opportunity to slow down and rediscover the joy and promise of the Advent season.

All are welcome to share in this time of spiritual renewal as we journey towards Christmas.

Today we celebrate 37 years of reopening the female branch in Sydney. We thank God for the first pioneering women who first came to Australia relying on God's Providence. We thank God for the growth and expansion of the fraternity in Australia. We are most thankful to each one of you who are a part of the Verbum Dei Family. Thank you!

MESSAGE OF HIS HOLINESS POPE LEO XIV
FOR THE 100th WORLD MISSION DAY 2026
[18 October 2026)

One in Christ, united in mission

Dear brothers and sisters,
For World Mission Day 2026, which marks the centenary of a celebration established by Pius XI that is very dear to the Church, I have chosen the theme “One in Christ, united in mission.” Following the Jubilee Year, I wish to encourage the whole Church to continue its missionary journey with joy and zeal in the Holy Spirit. This requires hearts united in Christ, reconciled communities and, in everyone, a willingness to cooperate with generosity and trust.

As we reflect on being one in Christ and united in mission, let us allow ourselves to be guided and inspired by divine grace, “to renew in ourselves the fire of our missionary vocation” and advance together in the commitment to evangelization, in this “new missionary age” in the history of the Church (Homily, Jubilee of the Missionary World and of Migrants, 5 October 2025).
