It is with deep gratitude to Pope Leo XIV, I announce I have been appointed by His Holiness as Prefect of the Dicastery for Legislative Texts, with the personal title of Archbishop.

I'm profoundly grateful to Pope Leo for the confidence and trust he has placed in me.

During my time as bishop of the Diocese of Broken Bay, the clergy and faithful have been a true joy in my episcopal ministry. I remain forever grateful to God, who entrusted me with the care of His flock.

I will remain in Broken Bay for the next three months as Apostolic Administrator before moving to Rome to begin my new ministry of service.

Please pray for me as I undertake this new challenge and please be assured of my prayers for you.

✝️ WHY HELL IS LOCKED FROM THE INSIDE, A CATHOLIC TRUTH FEW UNDERSTAND😳🤔
___________________
Most people imagine Hell as a place where God throws people and locks the door.

But the saints and Scripture point to something far more disturbing:

Hell is locked from the inside.

Not because God refuses to let people out…
but because souls refuse to let God in.

This truth changes everything.

✝️ 1. GOD DOES NOT SEND SOULS TO HELL, SOULS CHOOSE IT

God desires all people to be saved (1 Tim 2:4).
Jesus died for all.
Heaven is offered freely.

But love cannot be forced.

Hell exists because some hearts permanently say “No.”
Not once.
Not for a moment.
But forever.

C.S. Lewis captured it well:
“The doors of Hell are locked on the inside.”

✝️ 2. WHAT DOES IT MEAN THAT HELL IS “LOCKED FROM WITHIN”?

It means:

▪️ The soul does not want God.
▪️ The soul rejects God’s mercy.
▪️ The soul prefers its own will over God’s will.
▪️ The soul chooses self-rule, even if it means eternal misery.

Hell is the ultimate expression of human freedom abused.

Not a prison forced by God,
but a condition embraced by a soul that refuses to be healed.

✝️ 3. SIN FORMS A HABIT, THEN A PRISON

The more a person embraces sin, the more the soul changes:

Lust makes the heart restless.
Anger makes the heart hard.
Pride makes the heart blind.
Greed makes the heart hungry.
Hatred makes the heart cold.

If a soul dies with no desire for God,
then that is exactly what eternity becomes:

A life without the One who is Light,
Truth,
Goodness,
Beauty,
Peace,
Joy,
and Love.

Hell is simply the soul left to itself.

✝️ 4. GOD CONTINUES TO LOVE EVEN THOSE IN HELL

This is the part people often miss.

God’s love never stops.
His mercy is infinite.
But in Hell, the soul hates that love.

Why?

Because the soul has chosen something else:

▪️ “My way, not Yours.”
▪️ “My will, not Your will.”
▪️ “My control, not Your truth.”

Imagine a person living in darkness for years—
when light suddenly shines, they shut their eyes.

Now imagine a soul who has rejected God for a lifetime,
when His Presence comes close, they recoil.

This is why the saints say:

The greatest pain in Hell is God’s love, rejected.

✝️ 5. HELL IS THE FINAL CONSEQUENCE OF A SIMPLE SENTENCE: “LEAVE ME ALONE.”

And God, respecting human freedom, says:

“I love you…
but if you insist,
thy will be done.”

Hell is not God’s rejection of the soul.
It is the soul’s rejection of God.

Forever.

✝️ 6. WHO THEN GOES TO HELL?

Only those who say:

“I do not want Him.”
“I do not need Him.”
“I will not serve.”
“I refuse to repent.”
“I choose myself.”

Not by accident.
Not by mistake.
But by a fixed choice of heart.

This is why the Church calls Hell a self-exclusion from communion with God.

Self–exclusion.
Self–imprisonment.
A locked door from within.

✝️ 7. SO WHAT IS THE CATHOLIC WARNING?

The greatest danger is not weakness,
nor struggle,
nor temptation.

The greatest danger is a hardened heart
that refuses conversion.

Hell is not filled with people God hated,
Hell is filled with people who did not want God.

Heaven is simply the place for souls who say:

“Lord, have mercy.”
“Lord, remember me.”
“Lord, I need You.”

✝️ SO

God never stops knocking.
But one day, the knocking ends,
and the door you left closed
becomes the door you cannot open.

Hell is the eternal echo of the soul’s final “No.”

Heaven is the eternal echo of the soul’s final “Yes.”

The door is in your hands.

Join Our Parish Team! ~ Youth Ministry Coordinator ~ Ku-ring-gai Chase Parish
We’re on the lookout for an engaging and creative person of faith to help grow and support youth ministry in our parish community.
This role is all about being present, connecting with young people, helping to lead Youth Mass and youth groups, and encouraging involvement in the wider life of the Church.

We are looking for someone who understands today’s young people and can bring creative ways to engage them in parish life, including through social media, advertising, and communication. The role is based at the Parish Office in Berowra, with face-to-face
ministry facilitated at St Patrick’s Asquith. If you’ve been involved in youth ministry or have experience working with young people, and your faith is something you’re passionate about, we’d love to hear
from you! This is a casual position, where the Youth Ministry Coordinator will be employed for 6-8 hours of work per fortnight. Any additional hours are to be approved in advance.

For more information or to apply, contact Geraldine Vytilingam via email at [email protected]

Recently, the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith issued a document entitled Mater Populi Fidelis: Doctrinal Note on Some Marian Titles Regarding Mary’s Cooperation in the Work of Salvation.

Some have wondered whether this teaching might diminish our love for the Mother of God. In fact, it does the opposite.

The Note helps us to understand Mary’s true greatness and to honour her as she most desires, to draw nearer to her Son, Jesus Christ, our Redeemer and Lord.
