Sacred Heart Cathedral is lit up in red this evening as we commemorate Anzac Day. We give thanks for the sacrifice of past and present service men and women, as well as pray for peace in our world.

For this year's Easter message, Fr Brian Boyle, takes us to St Martin's of Tours, Muskerry, where he remembers, as a boy, sitting next to his grandfather at Mass.
He reflects on the way his grandparents and the people of Muskerry passed down their faith from one generation to the next and asks us all to think how we can be missionary disciples in our world today.https://mailchi.mp/sandhurst/easter2026

The Cathedral will close at 1pm each day this week due to extreme heat with temperatures forecast to soar over 40 degrees in the afternoon on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Logistics for the Requiem Mass of Monsignor Frank Marriott.

A letter from Fr Brian Boyle about travelling to the Mass, parking, drop-off and other logistical matters.

The Requiem Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Bendigo on Wednesday December 3rd, commencing at 1pm. We anticipate a large congregation will attend.

There will be no parking available on the so-called Cathedral apron, that is, the area around the Cathedral proper. There will be provision for drivers to drop-off elderly people and people with mobility issues at the Mackenzie Street side of the Cathedral (entering from Wattle Street) and then exiting on Short Street. No parking in the Cathedral precinct.

Those attending the Requiem are encouraged to park their vehicle at
St Francis of the Fields Primary School – 46 Blucher Street, Strathfieldsaye. Buses will then take people from the school to the Cathedral and return trip after the Mass and burial. Buses will run from 11:30am from the school to the Cathedral regularly.

The celebration of Mons Frank’s life and ministry will take place at the school hall in Strathfieldsaye after the burial. The purpose of this logistical exercise should be clear: parking readily available at the school which will also be the location of the celebration afterwards.

Mobile toilets will also be on the Cathedral site to accommodate the crowds expected (positioned opposite the existing toilet block in the Cathedral precinct). Additional seating will also be brought into the Cathedral aisles to accommodate the expected congregation number. First Aid officers will be on site.
