Sacred Heart Cathedral is lit up this evening in red as we commemorate Anzac Day giving thanks for the sacrifice of our service men and women both past and present, as well as pray for peace in our world. The Cathedral Cluster was blessed to be able to lay wreaths at both the Bendigo and Kangaroo Flat Anzac Day services today. A special Anzac Day Mass was also celebrated at St Monica's in Kangaroo Flat with Fr Jackson Saunders and Fr Mike Pullar MBE.

For this year's Easter message, Fr Brian Boyle, takes us to St Martin's of Tours, Muskerry, where he remembers, as a boy, sitting next to his grandfather at Mass.

Last Sunday at the 11.00am Mass at the Cathedral our catechumens and candidates presented themselves for the First Scrutiny of the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) program. They received a special blessing and prayerful encouragement from our parishioners ahead of entering the Church at Easter. The Second Scrutiny will take place this coming Saturday, March 14, at 6.00pm at St Joseph's, Quarry Hill. Please keep our catechumens and candidates in your prayers.

The Cathedral will open each day from 10am until 1pm from Wednesday, January 7, until Friday, January 9. The Cathedral will close at 1pm each day this week due to extreme heat with temperatures forecast to soar over 40 degrees in the afternoon on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. We thank our volunteer Cathedral Guardians to our dedication to this ministry even in the heat.
