St Stephens is a warm and welcoming community of Christians who look to the Bible as God's word and for opportunities to express the love of God in our community. It is our belief that faith in Jesus Christ impacts all areas of our daily life and experience. We want to share the hope of Jesus in the Forest area and beyond and look forward to seeing you sometime.

BRIDGE OF HOPE NEW REGIONAL OFFICE OPENING - In the Ibu area of west Halmahera.

I’ve been involved with Bridge of Hope in its microfinance program for 23 years. As the years have progressed, it has become a bit easier for the poor to obtain loans in the cities & bigger towns, so now Bridge of Hope is moving into more remote areas to serve those who have less access to saving/borrowing programs.I drove 4 of the BoH staff on the 3 hour drive across the island with some extremely bad roads & a river crossing, but it was also very beautiful in the mountainous winding jungle roads.

The official opening ceremony was well attended by the new local beneficiaries of our program, as well as the village head, a church pastor, & several government officers responsible for giving approval to our program in the Ibu area. I think it was good for the officials to see all the real people involved in the program, both the local recipients, plus the amazing BoH staff.

This week we continue in our series on the prophet Micah. We looked at chapter 2, where God calls out the injustices being committed by leaders against those who are already struggling. God also promises a future where such injustice will finally be dealt with by his son Jesus.

Last Sunday at St Stephens we began a sermon series on the prophet Micah. In this first talk on Micah 1, we looked at God's jealous love for his people and asked, "Are we giving God our full attention"?

This coming Saturday between 2 - 4pm, our local community is welcome to come and get your car washed for free in the St Stephens car park. Our car wash is being run by our young adult leaders and our 'RAW' youth group who want to serve our community. They're having a bake sale too - all funds raised will go to giving more RAW youth group members the opportunity to attend its annual youth camp in October.
