It is our belief that faith in Jesus Christ impacts all areas of our daily life and experience. We want to share the hope of Jesus in the Forest area and beyond and look forward to seeing you sometime.

Hear from Lyndy about Hope for the beaches Evangelism Training Night
——————

Last week, we at St Stephens had the privilege of attending the Hope for the Beaches ‘Evangelism Training Night’ at St Luke’s Grammar.
We heard from evangelist Sam Chan on some practical guides and strategies for sharing the Gospel in everyday situations with our friends, family and our community.
5 tips:
#1. Merge our Universes, find ways to bring together a community of our Christian friends with our non-Christian friends, so that they all become friends.
#2. Go to Their Things. By joining in their regular activities, we open opportunities to invite them to ours.
#3. Coffee, Dinner, Gospel. Break down the seemingly huge task of telling our friends into small achievable goals.
#4. Learn to Listen. Actively listen, without interrupting.
#5. Become the Unofficial Chaplain in Your World. If we earn trust, our friends might seek us to pray for them in a crisis.

Key takeaway for me was to trust God is at work even if we can’t see any change. Sam said someone might need to have 32 prior gospel encounters!

Shared this encouragement for us!

—————

BRIDGE OF HOPE NEW REGIONAL OFFICE OPENING - In the Ibu area of west Halmahera.

I’ve been involved with Bridge of Hope in its microfinance program for 23 years. As the years have progressed, it has become a bit easier for the poor to obtain loans in the cities & bigger towns, so now Bridge of Hope is moving into more remote areas to serve those who have less access to saving/borrowing programs.I drove 4 of the BoH staff on the 3 hour drive across the island with some extremely bad roads & a river crossing, but it was also very beautiful in the mountainous winding jungle roads.

The official opening ceremony was well attended by the new local beneficiaries of our program, as well as the village head, a church pastor, & several government officers responsible for giving approval to our program in the Ibu area. I think it was good for the officials to see all the real people involved in the program, both the local recipients, plus the amazing BoH staff.
