Publicly Successful, Privately Unsettled

You can look spiritually successful and still be privately unsettled. Jesus’ answer to Nicodemus was not “try harder”, but “you must be born again.”

The world is noisy. Pride is noisy. Fear is noisy. Self-justification is noisy. Distraction is noisy.

But the Holy Spirit cuts through the noise and presses truth to the heart. Even when our words are imperfect, the Spirit is not limited.

Near the Light, Still Hiding
It is possible to stay near the light while avoiding what the light is trying to expose.

That is a warning for all of us. The question is not whether the Spirit is at work. The question is whether we will step out of hiding and into the light of truth, exposure, and life.

Look at What’s Killing You. God’s remedy in the wilderness was confronting: look directly at the thing that is killing you.

That is still how the Spirit works. He helps us face what is actually destroying us so that we stop pretending, stop hiding, and look to Christ for life.
