Our Presbytery Minister shares a prayer for the UCA. Come Holy Spirit…

𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿
𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟳: 𝗪𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁

Holy Trinity,
We pause now to re‑centre ourselves in you. You are the source of love and life and you are the one who holds together all creation in its rich diversity.

As we pray today, teach us to listen deeply to you and to one another.

In the mystery of your being, draw us into a presence that moves across difference, across culture, across experience. Forgive us individually and collectively, when we have been fearful of or hurtful to another because they are different from ‘me’.

Where diversity unsettles us, remind us that we are all created in your image and we are all called to grow into your likeness.

Wherever we find ourselves on our faith journey, you welcome us into shared life, shared work, and shared hope, where each person’s dignity and story are honoured. In this gift of belonging, you make space for diversity, so that as more lives intermingle, your church becomes more fully alive.

Come, Holy Spirit.
Renew us. Breathe fresh life:
breathe hope where trust has diminished,
endurance where unheard voices are weary,
strength where energy has waned,
and imagination where vision has faded.

Remind us that we are a people who belong - not because of what we do or where we participate, but because of Christ’s great love for the world. Hold us together by this love that has first held us. In the name of Jesus Christ.

𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿
𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟮: 𝗚𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁

God of life,
Holy Spirit, poured out on all people (Acts 2:17),
You speak in every language and gather all, into one body in Christ.

As we approach the 49th Anniversary of the Uniting Church in Australia, we pause as one Church
to pray, to listen again, to be renewed, and to be made one in You.

Quiet our hearts, Lord,
so we may hear Your voice, in stillness and in the voices of one another.
For Your Word calls us to be “quick to listen” (James 1:19)
and reminds us that we belong to one body
(1 Corinthians 12:12).

Teach us to listen across cultures and stories.
Open us to the gifts of CALD communities, whose faith and resilience enrich Your Church.
Form in us humility, patience, and love.

(Samoan) 𝗜𝗮 𝗲 𝗮‘𝗼𝗮‘𝗼 𝗶 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗼𝘂, 𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝘁𝘂𝗮 𝗲, 𝗲 𝗳𝗮‘𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗼 𝗺𝗮 𝗹𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗹𝗼,
𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘂𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀.
We give thanks for the First Peoples of this land and the covenant we are called to honour. Guide us to walk humbly, act justly, and love mercy (Micah 6:8).

𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗮 𝗣𝗮‘𝗶𝗮 𝗲, 𝗳𝗮‘𝗮𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘂 𝗘𝗸𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗮,
𝗛𝗼𝗹𝘆 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁, 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵.
Heal division, widen our listening, and draw us together in Christ,
who breaks down every dividing wall (Ephesians 2:14).

𝗜𝗮 𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗶 𝗶 𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗼𝘂 𝗶 𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗳𝗮 𝗼 𝗞𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗼,
𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁.
Weave us together as many voices, one Spirit, a people of renewal, reconciliation, and hope.

MUTH ARRAK YOUNG ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN

This campaign is an opportunity to partner with Muth Arrak - the Queensland regional council of the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress - to equip First Peoples young adults and youth across our church to grow into emerging leadership roles: in their congregations, communities, and across the wider Uniting Church.

Our Moderator sharing a prayer as we pray for the Assembly 40 days leading to the church anniversary.

𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿
𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟳: 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗹𝘆

Gracious God – Creator, Christ and Holy Spirit,
on this day you gather us as one Church,
across this wide land – many cultures and voices.

Your Word reminds us: “There are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit… For in the one Spirit we were all baptised into one body” (1 Corinthians 12).
And so, we come, listening, trusting that your Spirit is already at work among us.

Teach us to listen deeply:
to your Word that gives life,
to one another in all our diversity,
and to the wisdom of First Peoples,
with whom we walk in covenant.

Lord Jesus Christ,
you call us to be woven together in your love,
not erased in our differences but held together by your grace.
Where there is distance, draw us close.
Where there is misunderstanding, grow in us patience and humility.
Where there is hurt, lead us in truth, healing, and renewed trust.

Holy Spirit,
breathe upon your Church again.
Renew us for your mission.
Shape us as a people who listen before we speak,
who discern together,
and who follow where you lead.

We give thanks for the signs of your presence among us
in quiet faithfulness, in courageous leadership,
and in communities seeking to reflect your love across every boundary.

Make us one, O God,
one body, one people, sent in Christ’s name.
Amen.

𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿
𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟲: 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁, 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝘁

Spirit of the living God,
we come as your people, Pilgrims of the Spirit;
a Church on the move,
trusting that you are already at work among us.

Across this wide land,
and from our life together in Victoria and Tasmania,
we give thanks for the many ways your Spirit is stirring;
in congregations and communities,
in ministries of care, justice, and witness,
in voices both strong and quiet,
calling your Church forward.

You call us into relationship;
with one another, with this land,
and with the First Peoples who have held story, faith, and wisdom across generations.
Teach us to listen more deeply;
not only to what is familiar, but to the voices we have not yet fully heard.
Shape us as a covenant people,
committed to truth, shared responsibility, and faithful action.

Christ who gathers us,
you remind us that we are not who we are in isolation.
We belong to one another.
And so we ask:
where are we yet to listen?
Who is present among us, but not yet heard?
And what is your Spirit inviting your Church to become?

As Pilgrims of the Spirit,
lead us beyond what is known and comfortable,
into the wider life of your kingdom;
where diversity is honoured,
belonging is nurtured,
and unity is shaped in love.

Renew your Church,
that we may listen with humility,
walk with courage,
and share in your work of justice, healing, and hope.

And in this season of prayer,
bind us together as one;
one Church, many voices,
held in the grace of Christ,
and led always forward by your Spirit.

A call to prayer for South Sudan.

Violence and conflict have escalated again between South Sudan People’s Defense Forces and the South Sudan People’s Liberation Army-in-Opposition. Moses is currently in Juba and is unable to travel to his home village Lankien where he was hoping to start building the water well. The situation is extremely fragile, unsafe and is deteriorating rapidly. The family here in Australia, also we the church, are deeply concerned.

From UN website “UN agencies warn that worsening insecurity is blocking lifesaving aid, while hunger projections deteriorate and cholera treatment centres struggle to cope with an influx of newly displaced people.” https://news.un.org/en/story/2026/02/1166888

And so we pray - Almighty God, this is such a complex situation and we come to you with heavy hearts. Jesus make yourself known and speak your Word of truth, humility, forgiveness and peace into the hearts and minds of the leaders and decisions makers in South Sudan. Protect Moses and surround him and his family with your love and care. Holy Spirit come and renew the face of your earth. We commit it all to your Spirit’s wisdom, power and strength. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen

South Sudan is buckling under a fresh wave of violence and displacement, after attacks and looting halted a major UN food convoy in restive Upper Nile state and clashes continue to spread in neighbouring Jonglei.

Day 3 of prayer as we join with the church across Australia.

𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿
𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟯: 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝘁
𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀: Genesis 9:16 (The everlasting covenant) or Ephesians 2:14.

Jesus Christ, our Brother and Redeemer,

You are the cornerstone of our unity, the one who breaks down the walls of division. We bring before You today the Covenant between the UAICC and the Uniting Church in Australia—a sacred promise to walk together, to share power, and to seek truth.

We confess that fulfilling this covenant is hard work. It requires us to face painful histories and uncomfortable truths. Give us courage, Lord. Do not let us settle for a cheap reconciliation that bypasses justice. Where trust has been eroded, pour out Your healing balm.

We pray that the wider Church will honour this covenant not as a document on a shelf, but as a living, breathing relationship. Woven together in Your love across cultures and boundaries, may we become a true reflection of Your kingdom—where First Peoples are respected in our sovereign identity, and Second Peoples walk beside us in humility and truth. Renew our shared vow to be a destiny-bound people.
