The Cathedral Parish is a Catholic faith community located in Bathurst, NSW, Australia.

The Cathedral Parish is a Catholic faith community centred on Bathurst NSW, Australia. It embraces people in the city of Bathurst and surrounding countryside and the towns and villages from Sofala and Wattle Flat to the north to Rockley and Burraga to the south. The members of the community provide, or are involved in, many different endeavours in striving to live out the Good News of the Reign of God’s Love within our local community. The Word of God and our personal and communal prayer nurtures our spirituality that is then activated in our service of others in health and aged care, education, care of those in need and of the environment that sustains us, and the many diverse ways that ‘love of neighbour’ is lived out by members of the community.

Diocese to Gather in Prayer for Peace

Forty years after Pope John Paul II brought faith leaders together in Assisi to pray for peace, people across the Diocese of Bathurst are invited to mark that moment with a gathering of their own.

Unarmed and Disarming Peace will be held on Monday 26 October at 7.00 pm at the rear of the Cathedral, near the St Mary MacKillop statue. Bishop Michael McKenna will lead the gathering, which will bring together leaders and members of different faith traditions and Christian denominations.

The evening offers an opportunity to stand alongside one another in a shared desire for peace. Participants will be present as prayers are offered from their respective traditions, recalling the spirit of the 1986 Assisi World Day of Prayer for Peace.

All are welcome to attend and to invite others who may wish to be part of this moment of prayer and solidarity.

Our next Men’s Weekend Retreat is a time to explore what a good ‘full’ life means to each participant. We will explore what a ‘simpler’ life might look like in a complex world, and how the ‘attachments’ we have either help or hinder our experience of life.

RISE 2026: Young People Encounter Christ and Return Inspired

Young people from across the Diocese of Bathurst attended RISE 2026, forming the largest gathering the festival has welcomed in many years. It was a joyful experience of faith, friendship and community, offering young people opportunities to encounter Jesus in a deep and profound way.
