Our ACCI Field Workers, James & Mez Somerville, serving in Dili, Timor-Leste have a 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘂𝘀.

Mez has been investing time with Casa Vida, a locally led NGO in Dili that provides care and recovery services for children who have experienced violence. Supporting shelter, counselling, and reintegration, Casa Vida has walked alongside more than 780 clients to date. Mez is contributing to the development of a new programme extending support to children placed in kinship and foster care, helping ensure they receive holistic care after trauma.

James and Mez are also deepening their involvement with Victory Family Centre, a mission-hearted church in Dili hosting services in both English and Tetun. With a vision to raise disciples and equip church planters across Timor-Leste, VFC is a hub of local mission and the Somervilles are right in the middle of it. Mez has recently joined the church’s leadership team, and James is developing new ways to welcome and support people finding their feet in a new country.

James and Mez have three-year-old son Kemin, who has just started preschool and is absolutely loving it!

𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙮𝙚𝙧 𝙍𝙚𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙨 - Timor-Leste is currently experiencing a serious dengue fever outbreak, with over 1,000 cases recorded since February and five paediatric deaths reported. Please pray for an end to new cases, healing for those who are ill, and strength for overstretched medical staff and resources. Please also pray for James and Mez as they step into greater leadership at VFC, and for the Lord to bring them close friendships for the whole family.

💧 Last year you helped bring water closer. This year the journey continues.

Last year, we partnered with TejasAsia to help bring clean, accessible water to families in Delhi’s inner city. These are communities where women, children and men once walked daily, carrying heavy 20 litre cans just to survive.

This year, our partnership continues through the Hope Bus, focused on education and healthcare. Through your incredible generosity with donations, cans and bottles, we’ve raised $3,043.70 and it’s still coming in! 🤲

That’s real kids learning. Real families receiving health checks. Real hope on wheels.

We are so proud to keep walking alongside Tejas Asia as this work grows. Thank you, Encounter Church. We showed up last year and we’re showing up again. 💙
