Banora Point Uniting Church - Messy Church

Banora Point Uniting Church - Messy Church Messy Church Church isn’t for everyone. What? That’s an odd thing for people from the church to say. Maybe Messy Church could be an answer. And then?

But lots of people who actually want to explore spirituality and even are open to Jesus, find that sitting in rows of seats for an hour listening to someone out the front speaking, singing hymns and the like, isn’t the best way for them to think about these things. Messy Church is for people who engage in ideas creatively. They think about things best, relationally. This church holds Messy Church

once a month – on a Saturday afternoon. We engage with a Jesus theme. We think about it while we do stuff. Craft stuff and other activities. Usually, we have something akin to science experiments designed to kick-start some thinking. We even have competitions at times. All of this bit takes about an hour. We then work at putting it all together in a celebration of those ideas for about quarter of an hour. We share a meal. Somebody else cooks it. And they also clean up after it. We even have dessert (something of a rarity at my place). Messy Church is for all ages, but if you’re a kid, you need to come with an adult in tow. There isn’t a cost, but there’s a bucket for donations toward the meal and the like by the door as you leave which you can contribute to if you’d like.
