In conjunction with our midday eucharist (12.10pm) we will come together to give voice to our distress and sorrow, to mourn the victims of the Bondi terrorist attack, and to support the wounded, bereaved and traumatised. We stand together with members of the Jewish community throughout Australia, and with countless people the world over who, like us, condemn anti-Semitism, hate crime, persecution and violence. This Eucharistic Vigil will be an opportunity for us to pause, to remember, and light a candle in honour of those who lost their lives – and to pray for peace in our world. All Ballarat Anglicans are warmly encouraged to join us for this significant observance at our Cathedral.

Praying today for all those facing the devastating bushfires across Victoria.

For firefighters and emergency services working tirelessly in dangerous conditions, may they be kept safe and sustained in their crucial work.

For families who have lost homes, livestock, and livelihoods, may they find comfort and support in the days ahead.

For communities on high alert, living with uncertainty and fear, may they know peace and protection.

For our land, scorched and suffering, may healing rains come.

God of compassion, be close to all who are hurting. Strengthen those who are helping. Give wisdom to those making decisions. And remind us all of our call to care for one another and for creation.

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” - Psalm 34:18
