We are delighted to see the Islamic Society of Mackay Open Day featured in both the Australasian Muslim Times (AMUST) and the September edition of Mackay HHS Health Chat.

The Open Day brought together people from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds in a welcoming environment that encouraged meaningful conversations, cultural understanding and stronger community connections.

It was wonderful to see Queensland Health and The Neighbourhood Hub engaging with visitors through the interactive “Where Does Your Story Begin?” world map activity, which beautifully showcased Mackay’s multicultural diversity.

Thank you to everyone who attended, supported and contributed to this memorable event.

What a wonderful day at the Islamic Society of Mackay Open Day!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday and helped make the day so welcoming and memorable. It was our pleasure to open the doors of our mosque, host our wider community and share meaningful conversations together.

We were honoured to welcome Mayor Greg Williamson and MP Nigel Dalton. We also sincerely thank the Neighbourhood Hub, the Mental Health Unit at Mackay Base Hospital and the Mackay Regional Council Library for their valued participation and support.

Throughout the afternoon, guests enjoyed mosque tours, a multicultural meal and interactive stations exploring Islam. The henna art, Islamic meditation station, Science in Islam stations ,cultural photo booth and children’s activities brought plenty of smiles and created wonderful opportunities for people to connect.

Our Open Day was not about converting anyone. Its purpose was to build understanding, answer questions and offer an honest and welcoming picture of Islam and our Muslim community. By opening our doors, we hope to strengthen friendships, remove misconceptions and celebrate the diversity that makes Mackay special.

Thank you to our dedicated volunteers, participating organisations and every guest who attended with an open heart and curious mind. Everything came together beautifully because of your support.

It was truly a pleasure to host you. We hope to welcome you again next year!

Celebrating the wonderful achievements of our Muslim youth at the Whitsunday Anglican School Cum laude Awards!

We are incredibly proud to see our young people working hard, striving for excellence and being recognised for their achievements. May Allah continue to bless them with knowledge, confidence and success, and enable them to become positive contributors to our wider community.

The Islamic Society of Mackay would like to extend our sincere gratitude to ICAN for their support of our Tarbiyah Family Camp 2026 at Cape Hillsborough.

A special thank you to Dr Uzair for delivering such an interactive, engaging, and thought-provoking session.

Alhamdulillah, the camp provided an opportunity for families to strengthen their connection with Allah, build friendships, and create lasting memories in a beautiful environment. We are grateful for the contribution of ICAN and all those who helped make this event a success.
