Today, we celebrate the Feast of St Barnabas, a key figure in the early Church whose witness helped shape the spread of Christianity.
He was given the name Barnabas by the Apostles, meaning "Son of Encouragement."
Barnabas played a crucial role in welcoming St. Paul after his conversion, advocating for him when others were understandably hesitant. He later travelled with Paul on missionary journeys, proclaiming the Gospel and helping establish Christian communities throughout the Mediterranean world.
St Barnabas reminds us that the growth of the Church depends not only on great preachers and leaders, but also on those willing to encourage others, recognise potential where others see doubt, and faithfully support the mission of Christ.
St. Barnabas, pray for us 🙏
