STATEMENT ON THE MISTREATMENT OF DEMONSTRATORS

AHLUS SUNNAH WAL JAMA'AH AUSTRALIA (ASWJ Australia) joins its voice with the Australian National Imams Council (ANIC) and the Lebanese Muslims Association (LMA) in condemning the treatment of the demonstrators in Sydney on Monday 09th February 2026, particularly the abusive and violent behaviour directed at those who were praying.

This behaviour is inconsistent with the policies of successive governments, which have consistently guaranteed freedoms—such as freedom of expression and respect for religious rites—all of which are enshrined in Australian law.

Therefore, we urge the official authorities to conduct a transparent investigation that ensures the rights of all, while emphasizing the preservation of public order and the safety of people and their property.
