Fr Elijah - Delight in Service

A couple of weeks ago the Upper Room Media bookshop cafe opened. One of the servants shared with me an interaction that they had with a young person who walked in for a coffee.

They were Christian but wanted to go deeper in their faith. Unfortunately this was a struggle as their church did not have youth. She asked, “Does your church have youth”?

The servants responded by saying “let me show you the Instagram page”. The young
person could not believe a church existed that had so many faithful youth and asked “can I
come?” This interaction is only possible by the grace of God and each member of the body of Christ working together.

Fr Mark had the vision for the bookshop cafe. Fr Yacoub encouraged him.
Many servants helped with various things from the lease, to the fit-out, books, icons, coffee, cleaning, open day, finances and much more.
Meanwhile, the youth servants are doing their best to create an environment that is deeply spiritual and attractive to the youth. Some of them are responsible for the youth Instagram page.

If any one of these people did not do their job, then the young person would not have walked into the cafe and may not have had the chance to experience the beauty of our
Coptic Orthodox church.

Let us be diligent in our service, whatever it is, and know that God is working!

Fr Yacoub Magdy - Conversation between two devils
D1: This Coptic Church exceeded its limits, we have to limit them.
D2: I tried with Victor, I made him fly 10m and he came back like an afreet, it didn’t stop him.
D1: What about Karim?
D2: If the whole world is against Karim, Karim will win...
D1: I think the problem with Karim is Mimi.
D2: This lady has protection, her parents never stop praying psalms and her two sons
remind us of the horrible story of Maximus and Domadious.
D1: How about Abouna Yacoub?
D2: He’s a good friend of mine.
D1: Just let those St Mark’s priests leave him alone to keep him as our friend.

We thought how to protect the Church from these evil spirits:
1. We really pray for each other for protection.
2. Not a single hour during Passion Week do we forget about the marvellous gift that
the Lord Jesus Christ gives us for our Salvation.
3. To guarantee that the fire of love that is kindled during Passion Week will remain with
us for the 50 days of Resurrection. Yes, we don’t fast but we remain ascetic- don’t
overindulge, don’t participate in unholy activities but rather use our time to read
about the Holy Resurrection.

Please do pray I lose my devilish friends.

“Who loved me.” Galatians 2:20

At the foot of the cross, we come and lay down our pain, our questions, and our weakness,
and let Him lead our lives.

Join us this Wednesday for a time of prayer at the cross 🤍
A time to bow before Him
and remember how deeply He loved us and gave Himself for us.

This week, the prayer meeting will be from 7–9 PM.
Let’s not miss this special opportunity
