While we’d rather not talk about money, Northside Mackay Uniting Church is involved in a building project because of the number of people (especially families with children), the build another hall. We’re doing really well, but as donations slow down we’re $55,000 short, being the cost of the patio extension ceiling.

We’re posting this here in case anyone who knows us and would like to support this financially, might see this post and get in touch. If that is you, please leave a message so we can talk offline.

Northside Mackay Uniting Church is growing, especially with the number of children in Kids' Church and Play Group. Our hall is also being used by different community groups, and we really want that engagement to increase.

A couple of years ago the Uniting Church property at Seaforth sold, and the proceeds of that sale can serve as a substantial starting point to fund the additional hall space we are planning to build.

Funding for this project will also involve a major grant application, and fund raising prior to that grant application.

We had over 200 people with us in church over the Easter weekend, which is just wonderful!

On Easter Sunday over 160 of us met (about 20 of those online) including 46 children! What a great morning of celebration it was, declaring Jesus’ resurrection.

We also met baby Morgan for the first time, which was beautiful!

Easter is a deep time for Christians, as we think on the cost of our salvation - Jesus death on that cross - and his victory over sin and death that we witness in the empty tomb.

Our Worship gatherings over Easter, at Northside Mackay and Seaforth Uniting Church will be:

7pm Maundy Thursday 28 March at Northside
8am Good Friday 29 March at Northside
9am Easter Saturday 30 March, meeting in the Roman Catholic centre at Seaforth
9am Easter Sunday 31 March.

All are welcome at any of these gatherings. Wherever you might be this Easter, know our crucified and risen Saviour is with you.

Our Kids' Church meets during our Sunday morning worship time, and it is a great but slightly unusual story. 7-8 years ago we had no kids' church because we had no children in the congregation. Then we started up our Kids' Church, and for the last few years we've been averaging about 16 each week (with up to 40 on our active list). This year that average looks like shifting to about 20.

The thing is, we've never really advertised our Kids' Church, because we don't have any room for it to grow. Our church will hold up to 260 people, but our hall is at capacity with about 20 children.

With this at the top of our list of concerns, we are moving towards a hall extension project, and this Sunday we have a really important meeting to decide whether to proceed, and if so, how. If we choose to proceed, it will be a busy year as we do everything possible to secure the grants required, and meet all the necessary requirements at our end of things.

If you're the praying type, please pray for our meeting this Sunday morning - and for our Kids' Church and everyone who uses our hall facility.
